<p>I graduated in 2009 with a 3.5 GPA, 29 on my ACT and a 1790 on my SAT. The colleges I applied to at the time I got accepted to every one, each with numerous high scholarships.
Fast forward to now. I didn’t do that well in school, due to just being a bad student (coughcough, not going to class). Overall, in about 4 semesters of school (I took a year and a half off), I have about 28 credits from The College of Saint Rose.</p>
<p>However, my GPA is extremely low due to me goofing off and not doing what I was supposed to do. It’s about a 1.2, which is horrible, I know. </p>
<p>I want to apply to UA for the Fall, but I am going to apply as a freshman, as I believe strongly that I will get accepted (and I won’t as a transfer).</p>
<p>My question is, when I get accepted and start doing classes (very well this time…hopefully), can I transfer the credits I have and that UA will accept to put onto my transcript? I know people take summer classes elsewhere and then get those credits applied so I figured it would be a similar process?</p>
<p>Even though I am totally not expecting a specific answer regarding the schools I have mentioned, what is the protocol in other schools? Has this technique worked for anyone? Thanks!</p>
<p>No you cannot do that.
You have to include your transcrips from Saint Rose.
They can look you up on national clearinghouse and will see your previously attended institutions

One last question - I read that if you have less than a sophomore level credit amount (the amount I am seeing around is varying from 30 to 60 credits), is that you technically qualify as a freshman. As annoying as it would be, it wouldn’t be the biggest loss in the world to lose those 28 credits. Is this still invalid?</p>

<p>You might be a freshman in terms of credit hours, but you would still be required to supply all transcripts of previous college work. You can’t just pretend your enrollment at the College of Saint Rose doesn’t exist.</p>
<p>Bottom line: You must apply as a transfer student. You will be checked against the National Student Clearinghouse and if you lie about previous enrollment, that constitutes academic fraud.</p>

<p>You won’t necessarily lose those 28 credits, even if they classify you as a freshman (grades below a C aren’t going to count, though, I bet). You will come on with a freshman with some courses under your belt.</p>
<p>Try to get in front of someone at UAlbany and please your case to see if you can get in. You need to convince them that you have changed.</p>
<p>Frankly, it’s not going to be easy to “convince them that you have changed” without tangible evidence that you have changed. A 1.2 GPA is… flat-out bad, and it’s going to be seen as evidence that you’re not capable of performing at an acceptable academic level.</p>
<p>Your best real option is to enroll in a community college, rebuild your transcript with at least one semester of solid coursework, start bringing your GPA up and reapply at that point.</p>

Go to CC and work your ass off and maybe even transfer to a better school than Albany</p>
