University of Arizona : Class of 2028

Hi
Daughter got admitted . So we are excited. How about email confirmation doesnt say anything about scholarship. How does Uni of AZ communicate about Scholarship? is it another email ? Or is it snail mail that we have to wait for.

If I remember right, few days after admission the wildcats portal should be updated with scholarship information.

My son got accepted last month with a $130,000 scholarship! He is waiting on other schools but it definitely intrigued him to look more into the college.

That is amazing!! Are you in Arizona? Or OOS? Can I ask the stats for admittance to qualify for that size scholarship?
My son is looking at OOS schools but we weren’t sure how we could afford them. I am trying to get a feel for what is out there.

My daughter was U of A class of 21’ but her dad was able to pay her OOS tuition.

Thanks so much! We are in California, so out of state! We were excited about the scholarship but didn’t know if its typical for out of state kids.

If you have a kid who would be entering college in fall of 2025, one should be aware that due to a $250M budget short-fall this year, starting in fall 2025, the guaranteed tuition program will be ending and there will be changes to OOS students’ merit scholarships.

I would say that will significantly impact our decision. Unfortunately it seems that they are in financial trouble, that is so tough!

We are also OOS and yes it depends on GPA. Better the GPA more the scholarship. UofAz has kept it very simple.

Even though my daughter got $32k a year merit for Fall 2024 the budget issues is definitely giving us pause if it is a good option

We are in a similar situation here and I agree completely. It seems like some awful administrative decisions have been made over the last few years. I recall in the insanity of 2020 things got really tight there as well. I actually feel bad for the students and faculty that are there, this will make it a more difficult work and learning environment through no fault of their own. I suppose this could happen anywhere, but it will weigh on our decision making once we know all our options going forward.

is the worry here that they may stop scholarship after first year and you will be left to pay the tution?

They claim that they will honor all offers through the term.

I think for us it is more how programs/staff will be effected. I am assuming they would honor the scholarships. My daughter has now shifted back to staying in california(and has been accepted) so the chance that she goes to UofA has now gone done to single digits. Hard to pass up that $32K a year merit but she needs to go where she feels strongly about if given a choice. I also prefer to be a quick direct flight home or under 6 hour drive…

Franke decisions are out!

Looking for feedback from parents whose kids are currently at U of AZ. Kid was recently accepted for fall 25 with decent merit. Waiting to hear on acceptance for honors. We are on East coast so a but of a trek but could be a good experience. Thanks!

Congrats! Are there any particular questions you have? Number one suggestion is to sign up in the housing portal ASAP. This is different than the enrollment deposit, I believe it’s refundable and holds your place in line to pick housing. We did not know to do this before deciding to enroll and were lucky enough to get a room, but housing is not guaranteed for first years. Franke Honors College has been great, and the Honors Village Dorms have the “ go to” traditional cafeteria. Record breaking enrollment numbers this year. It is a very social campus, typical of a big public school. There are lots of U of A Facebook parent pages you can join which give great everyday questions/insights. (Bonus: It’s a great destination to visit in February).
