University of Austin (UATX) Claims to Fight College Censorship by Focusing on Free Speech

Interesting relatively new school that is tuition free.

I seem to remember discussion about UATX, but did a search and it must have been somewhere on FB. Basically, it’s an unaccredited university started by a conservative think tank that had many of its founding members leave. They brag that students turned down X,Y and Z to go there, but they also are free right now, so not a fair comparison.

While they talk about all the free speech and an exchange of ideas happening, it seems like it’s not very diverse and the only POC I’ve seen in any listing or promotional material was a visiting professor who was vehemently against DEI (which just so happens to align with the university’s views). Seems like DEI is the thing you are not allowed to have discussion about.

The video is an interesting watch, and for some student(s) it might be a thought.

I don’t think they are going to make it. They enrolled fewer students this year than last year. Faculty have a very specific point of view, there’s no student housing or student life, no racial diversity. Not much to like about it.

While it’s currently free, is it worth the risk as it isn’t accredited?

No. Your degree would be useless.
