Those of you who applied to both LA and Berkeley and have decided to go to LA-- maybe you should let Berkeley know of your decision so they can open up a few spots and help out those of us who are going to appeal?

And to those who are so giddy over So Cal: you get what you deserve. That is my only warning.

Nope not backdooring it. I applied for an impacted major and got in (international development studies), but I am thinking of switching to english. It’s not a sure thing yet but it’s something I’m thinking about.

What about bio? :o Not saying I am planning to switch to that, I am just curious. But has anyone ever done it? It sounds so forbidden for some reason(I’ve completed a lot of science classes for pre-health).

a ucla rep told me switching to the english major is pretty easy when you’re there… just make sure you can fit in all your reqs during those 2 years

Adding onto that, I’ve also finish two years of spanish at my CC. I remember seeing two years of language as part of the requirements for the english major. So I guess it won’t be so bad?

Is it just me or do most UCs seem to want their students to get out quick? They keep emphasizing “well in your last two years…” “as you plan for your 4 year education…”

I sometimes wonder how some science majors are able to squeeze in four years of course work.

In the CC, everyone seems to be “taking their time”. I always hear people say they don’t want to rush and that they don’t care if they have to take another extra year, etc.

some of my friends at berkeley who are doing mcbio are graduating in 3 years. you just… don’t take many electives. then again they were freshmen admits who had ap scores as well as cc classes.

Because they’re state universities and it’s in their best interest to get people in and out as quickly as possible. To be honest though, it’s mainly just the College of L&S at Berkeley and UCLA that are trying to kick people to the curb in 2 years.

A friend of mine stayed an extra year at UCLA and the way she made it seem, people looked down on her for being a 5th year. That was what she said based on her personal experience, don’t know if that is true for every 5th year undergrad.

Does anyone know of anyone who has been in undergrad(4 year university) for more than 6 years?!

One of my friend who goes to CSUN, he’s been there since he was 18, he’s turning 24 this year and he still doesn’t know what he’s doing. Just taking classes, racking up on loans and floating around.

I’d worry like madness if I don’t have any direction, not to mention, delving myself deeper and deeper in debt.
