University of California Transfer Students Fall 2007 OFFICIAL THREAD!!!

oh ****…

i think i might get ALL my admission offers revoked.

i just ordered my transcript to see how it looks, and on my app i just put : 40 ap transfer units.

well on the transcript it says: 36 ap units, 4 units from csula.

you think theyre gonna revoke my admissions? i mean, there wasnt a grade for csula.

Did those 40 AP units make a huge difference for your ability to meet any requirements?

No such thing exists. UCLA will not tell you exactly why you got rejected.

Is that only UCLA though Ari? I called up Davis and asked them why I was reject ed and they told me specifically which courses I needed to take to be considered. I was missing three pre reqs, but it was only 1 course they actually wanted, and based most of thier decisions from - for Mech Eng.

Engineering is usually smaller, and more likely to offer you that kind of response. I’ve never heard of UCLA offering specific reasons-- at least not L&S.

Yeah I agree, in comparison to L&S I would have expected a much more general answer. UCLA is massive, so I do not blame them (somewhat) for not going into specifics. Though that would be a nice improvement on the rejections, to include what people CAN do, if they choose to re-apply at some point.

UCLAri: ucla told me exactly why i got rejected. she pulled up my application, and told me i should’ve been accepted, but there was a problem with one of my classes transferring. and then she said she’d re-evaluate me and we’re in an ongoing correspondence. so it does happen! i’m also in l&s.

might as well try, right? you obviosusly have nothing to lose.

Unknown: Ya, I hope you’ll get in to UCLA as chem…we might even have classes together? but it is a little strange they haven’t gotten back to you yet. I got in without all prereq done but I also have full time work with management(leadershippp oohhh big woop) experience. Don’t freak out yet… but it is hard not to I know.

And on a side note… someone mentioned celebrating about UCLA acceptance… that = me. Except my parents would be more than happy to buy me a nice dinner and lots of wine. Corny I know, but my mom gets really trashed with me and it is a blast.

I’m waiting to do my SIR for UCLA just incase I get into berkeley. UCLA was always my 1st choice but i want to keep my options open. I’m honestly hoping that I get rejected by Cal because then I wouldn’t have such a hard decision to make. We’ll see… anyone else preferring UCLA over Cal and why?

again, ucla aceptees add me on myspace or facebook:

Good to hear Peep, I know it must have been really terrible getting the rejection at first. Good to hear you followed up and at least reacted in a manner that will get some progress. As for me, I await the 30th…

hgraehl: I’m in the exact same position. When I said that to my mom (that I kind of hoped I’d get rejected by Cal) she was like, You’re nuts.

UCLA has Econ/Int’l Area Studies, which is pretty much the major I would design for myself, if I could. The entire econ department is supposed to be goooood. Also, LA is a good distance from the Bay Area…if only apartments weren’t so expensive…

I agree with you guys. Although I will be bummed out if I don’t get into cal, it will make the decision soo much easier. I am really dreading the thought of choosing between the two, that is a really tough choice.

uclari:

those units only counted for ucsb general ed. nothing else.

none were pre-reqs for my major.

Lol @ verdet. I hope you get accepted, so the decision is hard. We have worked too hard to let these schools choose for us. That is my opinion.

right now, I am dreading over the thought of choosing between UCLA and UCSB. Getting accepted to Cal will make it much harder. I was kind of sad that I got accepted into UCLA because I really wanted to go to UCSB.

go to ucla over ucsb. believe it or not, ucla is cheaper.

the cost of living in sb is outrageous.

a lot of people are telling me to go to UCLA. i have an ex who I found out was a crack head & prostitute, and a lot of her friends go to UCLA so it brings me nightmares. SB seems like a much better place for me to find a girlfriend. i know the reason is ridiculous.

no…thats not a ridiculous reason.

and if that is your reason, i have news to break to you. ucsb isnt really the relationship type school. its more the hetero-hook up site.

i think that UCLA students are more of the relationship type then UCSB, but there are too many outsiders(people who don’t go to UCLA) surrounding it. the outsiders are usually not the relationship type. santa barbara is secluded from a lot of outsiders. maybe, choosing Cal will be the good choice for me.

question:
UCLA Poli Sci program or UCSD Poli Sci Internationl Relations program, which is better?

Berkeley should put there decisions up on Friday, and not Monday. Most likely, I’m going to skip class on tuesday, and drive to Berkeley from San Diego, so I can have a campus tour, and make the decision that will change my whole life.
