Are they top-notch? Like at the level of MIT and Caltech? What departments exactly is U of Cambridge known for?

Cambridge is good at everything. They’re the best in the UK for the sciences and math. You’ll have better luck getting into MIT or Caltech though. The student body is only comprised of 10% foreign students… So it’s a 27% acceptance rate on average (Don’t think that’s ‘high’. In the UK students can only apply to Oxford OR Cambridge, but not both. Imagine if we had the same rule in the US - Harvard’s acceptance rate wouldn’t be 7%). Assuming I did my math correctly, the acceptance rate for foreign students (roughly) is around 3%?

You also won’t qualify for FA from Cambridge… So that’s 31,000 pounds per year. Roughly… $47,000 USD. And to get your Visa you have to prove you can pay all of that at full cost.
