Hi I am a homeschool senior on Florida virtual school and I was wondering if I had a chance of acceptance into UCF. These are my stats. Their not very good but please be honest.
3.0 gpa freshman year
3.2 sophomore year
3.5 junior year
My current gpa is only a 3.1
ACT:26
I have taken 5 Ap classes
Extracurriculars:
varsity soccer team
track and field
Rotc
SWAT CLUB
Spanish club
600+ volunteer hours no lie.
Background: first-generation, African American
Is 3.1 a cumulative GPA? Is there a weighed GPA? At face value, that GPA appears too low especially if it’s boosted by AP classes. A 26 ACT suggests that the GPA should be higher. On the plus side, being a first generation will help. I’m not sure how much being an African-American will matter if you are not A-A male as I think female A-A are well represented at UCF.
I think it’s a misconception that tons of volunteer hours matter. I think it’s GPA., standardized test scores, ECs, and then volunteer hours.
You should go ahead and apply though because, as I’m sure you have heard, you never know until you try.
I am currently taking 5 AP classes so that is not included in my gpa yet.
Okay, that sounds like a lot, but if you can do well in those classes (B or better) it should really help pull up that GPA. Even though it would be a bit late (outside of UCF’s priority consideration) I would suggest waiting until January when the first semester grades are calculated before applying. I think with a GPA of 3.5 and a 26 ACT, your chance of acceptance will be much improved. Good luck.
Is your 3.1 GPA weighed (did you take any honors or AP classes) ?
If you really want to go to UCF consider the UCF Direct Connect program. If you complete your AA at one of the state colleges (formerly Community Colleges) in their Direct Connect program you are guaranteed a transfer to UCF.

I do not know much about the FSU program, I heard it was modeled on the success of UCF Direct Connect.
I do know a lot of kids from my D’s school do the UCF Direct Connect for a variety of reason. Several got accepted to UCF but felt Direct Connect was an better way to get their General Ed completed on time.
Thanks for the info about the UCF direct program. I thought about going to a community college, but I just dont want to wait. Two years at a boeing school than transfer and only spend two years at UCF.
