University of Chicago Application Surge

<p>I wonder if applications to Carleton will rise a bit, as more students who are interested in UChicago will apply to Carleton as well. The two schools seem to attract a similar type of student.</p>

<p>U of C dropped their “uncommon application” this year and have begun using the common application. 3 original essays versus a single essay written for other schools is probably the best explanation. A bad economy causes all applications to go up a bit, as do changing demographics (more high school students mean more college students).</p>
