University of Chicago Fall 2022 Admissions - Class of 2026

Does anyone know the admission stats for the Class of 2026? I saw some tidbits here and there but wasn’t sure if a summary was sent to accepted students.

Did you get in?

Nope. and you?

Attended a UChicago admit student event and was told 5%.

Wondering if anyone got off from waitlist?

Saw a post on Reddit about someone getting off WL back in March which seemed a little strange. Anyone has any insight whether the WL will move at all this year?

I believe there will be action early May, but they won’t know til May 1st about how much movement there will be.

Just attended admitted students open house. Huge turnout and high energy.

They should be switching to gap year admits off the waitlist soon.

What does that mean?

It means they may offer admission to Class of 2027 to a few waitlisted candidates which means taking a gap year. They did that last year. Not sure if they will this year though.

Did you guys see a checkbox option for that in your waitlist form I saw the question but I did not see a place for yes or no like or the yes or no for the first question of staying on waitlist for 2026

Not sure. My D sent in her WL form to stay on the WL but she isn’t interested in a gap year.

Would they do that before they start moving kids off the waitlist to admission for this year? Or do you think they’ve completed moving kids off the waitlist for admission for this year already?

I’ve heard close to nothing about people getting taken off

I know I’m a bit late, but congrats to everyone who got in!

Anyone got any updates?

It seems that they offer spots to WL applicants for this year and next year at the same time. Taking students off the WL for a gap year is different because they aren’t necessarily trying to fill gaps in class (because most of the class of 2027 hasn’t applied). Taking applicants off the WL for the current year is done to fill gaps in the class of '26, and they won’t have a full idea of what gaps exist until May 1 and beyond. In short, there is still plenty of time before they stop taking people off the waitlist (as long as they aren’t over-enrolled already).

I swear I didn’t see the question at all on my form when I replied (which was literally seconds after reading my app result). However, when I looked at my response to the form on the portal more recently, the gap year question was there but with a blank answer.

Has anyone gotten off the waitlist or have heard anything about movement this year?
