Also, how do admissions officers use your LOCI to help advocate for a spot off the waitlist?
I believe they have regular meetings to review waitlist offers. At least thats what they told us last year. We did a regular LOCI when our S21 got on the waitlist…a few weeks later the admissions officer assigned to his area (not sure if it was Latin America or internationals) sent an email if he was still interested. He sent back an email that night saying if offered he would definitely go. She thanked him for the prompt reply…2 or 3 days later he got an offer for admission. Believe they only took 6 applicants off the WL last year for Class of '25 and several more got offered spots for Class of '26 (my son did not check that as an option on his WL notification and would not have gone that route).
My guess is that any international pulls off the WL come earlier because of visa issues. Dont know how late into the summer UC goes with domestic offers…but it felt last year that happened in May FWIW.
I’m pretty sure they are taking the large majority of the people off the waitlist after May 3rd, because I recieved an email telling me my regional admissions counselor won’t be back in the office until next tuesday.
