University of Chicago

This is the only school that I /need/ to know about. I <3 U of C. It would be nice to know what other colleges the honorable members of CC.com think I would thrive at as well. I want to go to a school that is academically outstanding, well-rounded, and challenging. And if there is any hope for an Ivy acceptance (or no hope), it would be nice to know.

Most of my grades are consistent across semesters. If they are not, I will note them.

I also rocked out for 8 years with art lessons at the Cleveland Museum of Art, but that was when I was a wee one, so it won’t count. =(

For job experience, I have three years of intensive, summer-long, 8 hours/day 4 days/week babysitting that paid for a trip to Europe the summer before my junior year. I plan on working at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History as a lab assistant this summer.

My only persistently low grades are in the mathematics. I am working hard to change this, because I discovered that I enjoy mathematics and science. The explanation for my senior year (heavy in math and science) is that I feel that these are subjects I would struggle to learn on my own. I can still read Weber, Hofstader, Durant and other authors in the humanities/social sciences on my own and grasp what they are saying with far more ease than I would trying to read a chemistry textbook or Morris Klein.

Yey-yah. My essays and recommendations should be good. My GPA has hastened upward since freshman year (when I hated high school, and didn’t care).

Weighted, of course:
8th: 4.000
9th: 4.171
10th: 4.226
11th: 4.342

AP Am. Government: 5 =D

SAT Composite: 2180
Verbal (or is it Critical Reading?): 730
Writing: 790 =DDD
Math: 660 =(

Answers? Anyone?

If you apply EA, then you will DEFINITELY be accepted.

Don’t think that they will look at 8th grade unless you did something really amazing

The courses in 8th grade were for high school credit. I put them up because they’re on my transcript.

Whee! =D

Hmm… CC demands that I make this message more than 10 characters (it was going to be just “Whee! =D”) so thank you… wonderful news. I was going to apply EA. Excellent! Dankeschoen!

yeah you look pretty good for EA. hope you get in.

Anyone with your kind of grades and scores has some chance at an Ivy, although of course its a reach for anyone
