<p>my personal statement:
"For my senior-year project, I would choose to present the life of a sewing machine. It all begins with a vision and a dream, to create a wearable and fashionable garment. Once the ideas are thought out and planned, the stitching is ready to begin. But first, the machine must be threaded. Once the machine in prepared, the design is ready to come to life. As the design is stitched and created, the garment is ready for a trial wear. After the first trial, the garment is back to the sewing machine for alterations. Then, perhaps the second trial, maybe even third as the process is repeated. Once the garment is just as the designer has envisioned, the sewing machine gets a break. The designer is proud of the garment and it hits the stores, producing sale after sale. The life of a sewing machine is similar to that of a college student. We begin with hopes and dreams of getting accepted into the perfect college and into the perfect program. Plans and difficult preparations are made, and we get accepted! Then, we go through the first year, and the second, and so on. We participate in cooperative education programs and study abroad opportunities to prepare us for the “finished product”, the graduating student the university has worked so hard to see. The university is so proud of the student and once graduation day comes and goes, the student is off into the real world with ready knowledge and preparation to succeed in any occupation desirable. The student is that successful garment, hitting sale after sale. This is why the University of Cincinnati will help me succeed in my senior-year project. The University of Cincinnati offers opportunities difficult to find anywhere else and offers a unique path that gives the opportunities success. Through my passion of the fashion industry and the help of the University of Cincinnati, not only will I complete a successful senior project, but I will lead a successful career and therefore life. "</p>
