University of Colorado Law

I’m really interested in U of Colorado (Boulder) for law school. Does anyone know much about this school? I’ve heard it’s very much geared toward environmental law which I really don’t have any interest in, but I was wondering if they have a strong program for trial advocacy/criminal law. I really want to live in Colorado which is my main draw to Boulder. Can anyone verify whether or not UC has strong standing in the Mountain region (I’ve been told it’s considered to be pretty presitigious)?

If you want to live in Colorado, the U. of Colorado (Boulder) is an excellent choice.

I’m not a big fan of choosing law schools based on a particular program. Students change their minds all the time about what area of law they want to practice in. It’s not that unusual for lawyers to change their practice areas over time, for that matter, in response to changes in interest, and in the marketplace.

I spent twelve years as a litigator, and now have been doing licensing in-house for almost as long.

I think it is ranked in the low 30s if I remember correctly. It is high enough that I am applying too in any case.

If you know you want to practice and live in Colorado, I would say it is an excellent choice. In fact, I am pretty sure it has some decent clout in most of the Southwest. I don’t really know much about their specific strengths, but I am sure if you are really worried about it someone on here can drag them up from the depths of the internet. From what I have gathered in my searching though, I would say you can do a lot worse.
