UConn is higher ranked, and better known, especially outside of NY. But Geneseo is a respected college. Geneseo is also a SUNY, so for you, is it less expensive than UConn? Is that a concern for you?

You can’t really go wrong with either one. Yes, UConn is higher ranked and better known, but if finances are a concern, Geneseo would not be a bad choice at all.

I visited both before I chose SUNY Albany (U Conn was too expensive but I did get accepted, and Geneseo’s poli sci wasn’t as strong as U Alb so I did not apply).
I loved Storrs, almost as much as I loved State College, PA. But, I wanted to go to a big school, and U Conn is definitely a big school.
I would have to say that if the financial aspect is of no concern, go to U Conn. If not, Geneseo has a great business program and you will get a lot out of it.
But Storrs is a great place, and u Conn has a lot of national recognition. Everywhere I go out west, I encounter people who do not even know what SUNY is, or if has any academic merit.

UConn definitely has a better reputation… But I don’t think it’s for everybody… I have a house in New London (where UConn is) and go through the campus whenever I go there. It’s a beautiful place, especially in autumn and spring. But I found it very preppy (this is coming from someone who went to an extremely preppy boarding school in NE area). And that’s the general idea I got from people around it too. Maybe I’m stereotyping too mcuh but I think you should visit.

UConn has one of the best accounting programs in the country…
Business Week’s 2008 “Undergraduate Specialty Program Rankings” ranks UConn’s accounting program #11 nationally. (From UConn Website)

I think SUNY Geneseo will give you more of that small college/intimate feeling. But it’s also in the middle of no freaking where. So if the thought of being surrounded by six hours of cows and corn is not for you, think twice. But still, it sounds as if kids who are there would really like it. Both schools are respected. I’d go to whichever was cheaper.
