University of Delaware Class of 2022

This is a huge “unofficial” wait list!

Rumor has it, the earlier you plunk the money down, the better shot you have at better dorm.

My son submitted completed his application in October. He got the mid year grade email and submitted them the first week in February with the March 15 date. He just got the April letter. Delaware was initially his first choice but so turned off by their process. I can only imagine what the next 4 years would bring. He has committed to another school and we are all thrilled. This is just ridiculous.

@NJ0507 We are feeling the same way. My daughter had her heart set in UDel but is being pursued by other schools who admitted her. It is like an unofficial waitlist. She wants to make a decision but can’t because she doesn’t have an answer. Even being waitlisted is a better indicator. It’s a little disappointing. First it was 6-8 weeks, then March 15 and now early April. Was wondering if UDel hypes up the school once kids are admitted like other schools. We don’t want to miss admissions day and the opportunity to find roommates, etc.

I submitted my deposit yesterday. Is there any way I can still register for decision day? It disappeared from my portal.

My son is in the same position and it is frustrating, I thought maybe because we are Double Dels and he is on the cusp they are waiting to see how many deposits they get before they either admit or decline acceptance. I was hoping that being a double legacy would work in our favor :frowning:

@NursingMan Was your issue resolved?

@213210P and @nsl123 have your portals updated with changes other than your majors disappearing? My daughter’s has not. I don’t want to seem pessimistic but I don’t know what is taking so long.

@RosieLady1234 Despite the major disappearing last Thursday the portal still has not updated to show the decision. My son received an email on Friday night after 8pm inviting him to participate in Destination Delaware next month as an admitted student. Perhaps there is a glitch in the application portal given that he received an invite that should only go out to accepted students. I was hoping the portal would have an updated status this morning but it’s still pending.

I called the admission office to inquire about my son receiving an email invite to an admitted student event next month although his application portal is pending an admission decision. The young lady stated that the application is still under review and the email he received is standard process. In other words, she wasn’t in the position to explain why he received the email prior to receiving an admission decision but she stated he should not complete the registration for the event until he receives the admission decision.

I assume students are answering these calls and they are under strict orders to not reveal an application decision but I kindly asked her to pass on my feedback that prematurely sending an invite specifically for newly admitted students prior to an admission decision is unfair to the applicant and not good practice. It’s a gap that needs to be addressed if sending an admitted student invite wasn’t an oversight. My son was excited to receive the invite to the event but he can’t get too excited until he receives an official decision.

They really need to get it together. My son has been admitted since Feb 23 UNDECLARED by UD. His 1st choice and only choice major was statistics. He sent a request to change from his portal on Feb 24. He has not heard anything. He wants to make his decision soon since his 2nd.choice University admitted students will be coming up before UD admitted students day and would have liked to see what UD decision came back at. My son called admissions today and this is what they said about undeclared I would have to wait a year to be able to get into the program but I could still take the classes required for the major and then get in the major if I meet “standards”…If he was admitted already that means they have already reviewed his application. Really… Unreal. It looks like he will not attend UD and we are thrilled on his decision.

Continued from above … Being undeclared does not mean he would be guarenteed to get into the major.

From my experience, the admissions person gave you the correct info. Regardless of your admissions status, you must meet certain course and GPA requirements in order to be accepted into a program. The only exceptions are restricted majors such as nursing. If your son was direct admitted into statistics, he would need to meet the same requirements to move forward in the program. I’d encourage your son to pick the college he likes best. Being undeclared will not set him back. Congratulations on being accepted to UD. Many are still waiting.

I’m not able to set up my UD email account, it gives me an error when I click on the link. Anyone else have this problem?

qkev Thank you. My son likes both universities he has been accepted in to. The tricky ? Is where he likes best. Pros: UD is in the state we live in therfore closer to home , friends he knows will also be attending UD and of course they have a good program “statistics” if he should get into. Cons: The entire application process with UD since January has not made him feel comfortable. First 8-12werks 2 reviews asked for mid terms then not even get the major you requested the decided to put him as undeclared with no explanation. He requested a change and has not heard anything grom UD. He took the initiative to call and try to find out information. My son is not comfortable with going in undeclared. He was happy he had been accepted but not happy it was not his major. It’s not where you land its what you do after someone stated on here. Im sure if he picks another University it will be just as good of a college.I feel the pain for others still waiting. I can’t imagine . Good Luck to all still waiting.

We just got an Acceptance update on Portal. It must have posted after 4pm. Good luck all.

Anyone accepted awhile ago (January) still waiting for Honors decision?

My son is still waiting. He was accepted in early December dual major chemistry/ criminal justice and applied to the honors program end of December. Received an email early March they are still reviewing applications and would make a decision by end of March.

Does anyone know if the admissions office will be on spring break too?

Nothing on honors (not even an acknowledgement of application) and was accepted in early November and received a very nice scholarship - but the lack of communication is disheartening/concerning.
