University of Delaware Early Action for Fall 2024 Admissions

What percent of admits get merit aid? Anyone know? Not sure if they publish that.

I think they’re pretty generous, my 3.9+ 34 act got $17,000 a year, my 3.9+ 33 ACT got $15,000, my 3.7 30 ACT got $10,000. Before COVID it appeared to base a significant amount on test scores.

Thanks. Mine is 3.8/4.5/1540. Admitted to in state flagship but not the limited major, and now looking at possibly double the cost if sticker price. Stressful waiting!

Fingers crossed for you, great SAT score (and gpa), hopefully you’ll get the $17,000.

I suspect your student has an extremely strong chance of receiving the OOS Trustee Scholarship. Still, it’s hard not to worry. I’m guessing the other admissions, it’s for UMD CS? That change is definitely causing a lot of worry among many current admits.

Today’s update from enrollment office sent in an e-mail

*We are eager to get financial information to families as quickly as possible, and based on the latest updates from the Department of Education, our goal is to deliver full financial aid packages to families by mid-April.

However, we are able to release merit aid earlier. Students will be informed about merit aid in mid-March

My high stats Class of 21 D got $17 K a year, awards went out in late November 2020.

Anyone having trouble logging into the portal?

My son did yesterday. Seems that somehow, during the update, they switched his primary email to his school email address instead of his personal one. I called them and they switched it back.

I’ve heard talk that schools may be pushing out the May 1 commit date b/c of the FAFSA. Any news from UD on that?

Are RD notifications expected to start rolling out this Friday? Not sure how it’s been
past years for RD. Assuming RD are equally eligible for Honors College as well too?

Still an issue. Did you just call the main admissions office number?

Yes. I was on hold for a short while, but not too bad.

Nothing officially mentioned in the updates we are receiving from UD, but i guess pushing out that date will bring its own set of issues and may be different for each school. We just have to wait and see how this plays out over the next few weeks.

Pretty quiet for a Friday night. Anyone hear anything tonight - Honors College, Distinguished Scholar?

My S24 heard yesterday about his conditional acceptance, he is a music Ed. Major, so just need to get the musical school approval. Hopefully it is soon, but doesn’t really matter to we get the merit aid in March.

Did anyone else’s student receive an invite for ā€œDestination Delawareā€? Based on what I could find online about the program, it seems to be focused on underrepresented applicants, which my daughter is not. Cost-free including lodging, and focused on diversity and inclusion. Does anyone have any better information? We’d hate to take a spot away from somebody who could better benefit from the program.

Can anyone tell me about Destination Delaware? D was invited, not sure if invite goes to everyone? Seems like a Diversity and inclusion focus, she isn’t first gen or URM so I’m not sure if she would attend. Anyone have feedback?

My son was invited and I’m guessing it went out to everyone.
