I think they send them all at once. My child wasn’t invited, but I didn’t expect her to be. She’s not her class valedictorian, and the students I’ve known in the past who were invited tended to be ranked #1 or #2. SAT or ACT score used to be weighed heavily, with an emphasis on a perfect or near perfect score. UD didn’t appear to take test scores into consideration for merit awards this year and focused on GPA instead. It will be interesting to learn this year’s DiScho criteria and how they decided to invite candidates.
Mine wasn’t either when she applied (34 act, 8th in class), but her friend did (35 act, 2nd in class).
My son has a 1570 SAT, all A’s, all 5s on his APs. Our school doesn’t rank but I’ve been told at the end of junior year he was #1, because he’s stuck with band he fell to #2/3 when fall grades came out but they would have no idea of this because our school doesn’t report rank. GPA in a vacuum is senseless because some ridiculously grade inflate and others just don’t have the same offerings.
Oh well, makes our decisions easier in the end I suppose.
I completely agree. Even when they take the school profile into consideration it’s difficult to compare. I don’t envy the decision makers.
I mean that was supposedly the point of standardized testing. When you are in the 4.0 UW range it should show the difference. Or even AP scores. If you are getting As on the material and 2s on the exams that tells me those As prob weren’t showing mastery of the material.
Mu son accepted Chemical Engineering Honor.
My son got a email ‘You’re Invited: An Overnight Campus Event!’(Visit us for Destination Delaware, April 11–12, 2025.)
I thought this is not ‘Discho weekend’ because I can’t find any scholarships information. What is this invitation? Is this just Admission day?
3/7-3/8
For my D’s school, yes, there are multiple people.
Thanks
It’s not the Discho weekend. Destination Delaware is an overnight program for admitted students from underrepresented background. For merit scholarship info, some students get it with admission, some get it a few weeks later. My D never received scholarship letter but was invited to Discho weekend.
Good luck!!!
We just got the Destination Delaware email as well - I think it’s probably for everyone, they may just be slowly getting out the emails.
Did anyone who already committed get invited?
I don’t understand how they sorted who to give what to this year but my son withdrew his application. Head scratcher no Honors decision with 1520 SAT/ 14 APs and 4.9 GPA (maybe he would have gotten it eventually?)
Are you in state? Good luck!
Thanks. Yes, we are in state.
Out of state student admitted into honors with some fairly competitive stats (13 APs 1st in class 1520 SAT). I was curious when distinguished scholars will come out as it seems previous years have announced this by now. Delaware is my number one at the moment and I was really hoping to have a shot at the full ride. Any info is much appreciated!
I think up thread they said they were announced.
Waiting on final financial aid information this is the last college we’re waiting for and most important one. Anyone have any ideas when it may come out. Our portal is saying it’s coming soon.
Where on the portal does it say if you are offered honors? It used to have honors interest section but don’t see it now.
