University of Evansville for Engineering

Does anyone have any information about the Engineering program for University of Evansville? It sounds to me like the school is known more for its theater program from what I read online. It’s not ranked that high in US News for Engineering so I’m curious.

No personal experience with Evansville, but this is how I use the web to check out engineering programs since that is what all three of my students are interested in:

They are ABET accredited in (the first thing I check out):
Civil Engineering, BSCE
Computer Engineering, BSCOE
Computer Science, BS (Computer Accreditation Commission)
Electrical Engineering, BSEE
Mechanical Engineering, BSME

The second thing I check out is how big the program is:

The third thing I check out is what kind of career services support is offered:

If I think all the above matches my student, I present what I’ve found and if they like what they see they email an admissions representative to set up a visit and ask to meet with a faculty member.

We don’t worry about rankings, we work on finding a program where the student feels they are a good fit. My hubby went to a regionally known engineering school that has climbed the rankings, but that’s not a factor in his career. He’d have the same job even if rankings had moved the other way.

There aren’t that many small liberal arts colleges that offer accredited engineering, and some that do (like Swarthmore and Lafayette) are hard to get into. I had a pleasant visit at Evansville and liked the campus, residential neighborhood, and staff members I met. It’s a nice option if you’re looking for a small community that offers accredited engineering in a more relaxed, academically mixed environment, as opposed to a STEM school like Rose-Hulman.

I know a few people who went to U of E for engineering. Competent engineers and such, they liked the school. One sent his kid there for engineering. The question is, given it’s a private school, where else can you get in that gets similar education for less cost?

With decent stats UE is fairly generous with merit aid. We know several recent engineering grads that didn’t seem to have any problems getting jobs. What kind of campus is your student looking for? UE is on the smaller side, but there are definitely a range of majors beyond theater that UE does well.
