Yeah, @surrency1992, you go to Polk State?

Yes, @PSC2IVY, I did.

Got accepted for Fall 2015 on a conditional basis the night before last night(:

Major: Computer Science (CLAS)
GPA: 3.9
College: A florida community college
applied: september 18th
Sent to college: around october 6th

The condition is to get atleast a B in calc2,3, and physics.
Im not worried about calc but im working really hard to maintain a B in physics
Does anybody know if they will indefinitely recede my application if i happen to drop to a C in physics, or will i still somehow stand a chance?

I got in last night

Major: Computer Engineering
College: Miami Dade College
GPA: 3.68
Applied: 5/25

Also admission conditions, but I’m still waiting for the letter with the details. I’m guessing they’ll also require me to get a B on my courses in progress.

I just sent in my application, now all I have to do is send my transcripts. On their website it says you need transcripts from both your high school and college. I am applying for Fall 2015, and by then I will have 67 credits, do they still need my high school transcripts? Also, where do you check your application status? I went to that ISIS website and I have no idea where to check.

I know i just asked a question, but I was also wondering if it would be okay to send in my transcripts even though this semester isn’t over yet. Would it make my chances worse if I just sent in my transcripts with only 1 years’s worth of classes? I am applying for Fall

@Gaboth22 congrats!!

@heygaby They need your highschool transcripts if you completed the foreign language requirement n highschool. I would send it anyway if you’re not sure.
You should send your college transcript when you send your application, and then you just send your transcript again when you get your grades at the end of each semester.
You can check your application status here http://www.admissions.ufl.edu/appstatus.html (click on transfer)

@heygaby It really won’t matter. I would personally send them in after this semester ends to let them see your grades for the classes you just completed. If you haven’t applied yet, wait till this coming winter break. This will cut down on how many transcripts you have to send. If you send in before, you will end up sending at least 3. They need to see your fall grades to factor in a better look at your GPA. Missing 24-30 credit hours is a lot.

@surrency1992 So even if i already sent in my application it’s okay to wait another month to send transcripts? I’m just confused because on their website it says that it take 2- weeks to process the application and go through the university, but then it also says that they on’t make any decisions until al of the materials are sent.

@JourneytoJapan When they extend a conditional offer, they mean it haha. If you can’t even get a low B in a freshman-level physics class, the rest of your major will be painstakingly slow and dreadfully torturous. I hope you do get in though.

A normal question such as “Why are people already applying for Fall 2015 as transfers? I don’t understand this, could someone explain?” would just do.

I was denied from Computer Science (college of Engineering) late October because 2 of my pre-reqs (Physics 2 (+lab) & Calc 3) are still in progress. Seeing so many conditional acceptances, I asked whether I could get one as well. They said everyone else already had ALL pre-reqs completed so they had to get priority over me. 8-|

@heygaby Yes, it will be fine. They won’t be able to review your application till you do send in transcripts. At my school I could make a transcript request that would be sent when grades are posted. You should see if your school allows/does that.

Side note: Make sure to send your spring transcripts as soon as classes end in May. This is especially important if you are completing some of your major’s transfer prereqs in the Spring. They don’t mess around with contingency based acceptances!

@PSC2IVY Im literally top of my calc 2 and programming classes which is more related to what i’ll actually be doing so i will be fine. Besides im not even that bad at physics, you dont even know my circumstances to make such a blanket claim ^^"

So they really are serious about this… Well that makes me happy but sad at the same time. Sad because one class may decide my future that ive worked so hard for up till now, but happy because deep down i wouldnt want to attend a school that doesnt take these things seriously.
Well hopefully i will get the B, If i dont maybe i can apply again for the summer term and get accepted somehow…

Not saying you were bad at physics, I’m just stating matter of factly that it would be hard to do a comp sci major if physics is really hard for you. Just trying to be helpful, don’t overanalyze it lol.

If physics is really hard for someone doesnt that they are bad at it? Like i said im not really that bad at physics you dont know my circumstances so you cant assume that. Also it wouldnt be hard to do computer science major just because someone finds physics difficult, especially in CLAS. Computer science does not equal physics. They can work together nicely if you choose to go into that type of field in cs. But if you dont choose to do so, then you dont have to be good at one to excel at the other. Thats not the way it works.

You are getting a little bit oversensitive about what I said, just relax dude. You’re practically in, just go study your physics books. ;-0

@lisa695 Remember that UF has a program under CLAS and the College of Engineering. So, those who got contingent acceptances could be one who applied to CLAS.

This is not true when talking about Computer Science. Physics knowledge is not needed for Computer Science and if then only a little.
As far as I remember, the CLAS Computer Science Program doesn’t even have any classes that build up on Physics I and/or II… So the grade in physics is rather irrelevant later on…
If you thought about Computer Engineering, then yes, physics plays a bigger role there.

I was referring to the intelligence and determination to do well in a physics I or II class not the actual knowledge from the course…
