University of Florida 2014/2015 Transfers

@state80 I have a 3.7 gpa with A’s in my calc classes and my intro to programming class. They don’t really have stats of transfers to specific majors so it seems like its hard to tell

@mak1994 Yeah I tried looking for stats but couldn’t find anything. There’s minimal info about cs transfers in forums too. Hopefully that means less competition. When did you apply?

@state80 I Applied before the new year but they haven’t received any of my transcripts until beginning of January. What was your gpa if you don’t mind me asking?! anxious to see how i compare to others lol

Hi Everyone,

I applied in January to the Sociology program for the Fall 2014 semester. My current overall GPA is a 2.68 and my preq GPA is a 3.15. I put on my application that i have some classes still in progress. I check my application everyday! It recently said a couple of days ago that my application is being referred to the college for a final decision. Is that a good? I would love some feed back. I am so nervous!

@FloridaG33, yes mine has been like that for some time now so it could now take a few weeks or a month or 2 before you actually hear a decision. Its basically up to the department now to make that decision

@mak1994 I understand, I’m the same way! loll. I have an overall GPA of 3.5 right now with As in calc classes, and physics classes. I got an A in my intro to programming class as well. But chem and this one engineering class threw me off. I got B’s but they were 4 & 5 creds respectively

@mak1994 what program did you apply to?

@FloridaG33, I applied for the computer science program

@mak1994 nice! So I know to be a competitive applicant for my major it’s a 2.75. My GPA for my major is a 3.15. I’m freaking out. I hope it’s not too low :frowning:

@mak1994 but, I will have my last class needed for my program this semester which could boost my GPA to a 3.4

Guys, my status says that my application has been referred to my college for a final decision. My major is Industrial Engineering, and I applied on January 21st. Should I contact my advisor to see how’s it going? Also I have a question regarding withdrawing from a class.
Ok, so according to the website, it says:

To qualify for admission to the Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering, transfer applicants must meet the following criteria. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.
*Completion of a minimum of 60 transferable credit hours.
*Completion of UF’s foreign language requirement (2 sequential years of a foreign language in high school or a minimum of 8-10 college-level credits);
*A minimum 2.0 cumulative (overall) GPA;
*Completion of at least 6 of the 8 critical tracking courses at the time of application with a minimum 2.5 critical tracking GPA.No more than two attempts are allowed for tracking courses. Withdrawals count as an attempt.

Ok I meet all the requirements, my cumulative GPA is 3.83, but I don’t know how to calculate the critical tracking GPA, since UF has a + - grading system and my CC doesn’t. I can tell you what grades I got in my classes though…I have completed:
MAC2311 (A),
MAC2312, (B)
MAC2313, (A)
MAP2302, (A)
CHM 2045 + LAB, (A)
PHY 2048 + LAB (B)

That means 6 courses…the other two are COP2271 + LAB (V.B Net) and PHY2049 + LAB.
My community college does not offer COP2271, so I cannot take that class at the moment. I’m taking PHY 2049 + LAB …but I’m worried about my grade. The last day to drop is March 19th.
If I drop the class, I have to notify UF that I did so, and would that decrease my chance of being admitted? Even though I had already completed the 6 classes out of 8 required?
And what if I don’t drop it, and get a D in the class, I’ll have to retake it during summer…would UF be ok with that?
I appreciate your comments!

@marissa1206 I read it as being ok (to drop the class), as you’ve met the minimum requirements by taking the other 6 classes. Just remember you can only attempt each class twice, and a drop counts as an attempt.

To be safe, I would recommend you call UF admissions (or maybe the College of Engineering directly, since your application has already been referred to the college) with your question on Monday.

I applied for the Online Business Degree, as a transfer from a Florida Community college. My app got referred to my college for final decision. Woot. Not sure if anyone cares, never heard any mention of the online degrees in this forum.

Current GPA: 3.55
Preprofessional GPA: 3.62
College/Major: Accounting
Term applied: Fall of 2014

I am freaking out due to the demographics they’ve posted for Fisher. My GPA is pretty good but it is about (.19/.20) below their average acceptance. So I have sort of prepared for the worst, but I am hoping for the best!. I’ve gotten in to my 2nd and 3rd choice schools; which, is not too bad if I don’t make it (I am crossing my fingers).

Cumulative GPA: 3.36
Preprofessional GPA: 3.75
Major: Finance
Current College: UNF
Term applied: Fall 2014

I applied in January but by the time my transcripts and my AP scores didn’t arrive until february and my application is currently under review by the college of business.
I am extremely nervous and anxious because my overall GPA is not so assuring but on the other hand I have good ECs, for example I am the president and founder of a philanthropic club at UNF and I’m in Student Government so hopefully that will weigh in.
What are y’alls opinions on the strength of my application. does anyone think I have a decent chance? and when should I expect to hear back?

@mak1994 I applied for Computer Science

GPA: 3.95
Pre. Prof: 4.0
Major: FInance
Term Applied: Fall 2014

Does anyone have any ideas on how to go about possibly double majoring as a transfer?

Applied for Fall 2014 to College of Health and Human Performance as a Sports Management major. I currently go to UCF. Got everything needed in at the end of January. Still haven’t gotten my decision. Has anyone that has applied to this college gotten their decision yet and does anyone know when I might know?

Gobraves48

I’m trying to transfer into the same program. I also applied in January and am impatiently waiting my decision too.

I applied for APK in the college of HHP they told us that we should be finding out anytime between now and mid-april
