University of Florida Class of 2027 Official Thread

Not true - everyone is fully reviewed since we admit holistically - we can’t consider anyone until everyone has been looked at by different staff members.

Where did you see the recalculated GPA?

Thanks

How does UoF recalculate the weighted GPA? Is there a link or reference table? Also, is this something we can find at applicant portal? Thank you so much.

Only academic courses are used in GPA calculation. Math, Science, Social Science, English, and Foreign Language and all AP/IB/AICE

SSAR question. If an applicant updates their SSAR adding Fall grades in late Dec/Jan for another school (Say, FSU, TN etc) will that cause issues with the UF application? Apparently Tennessee has had issues that have impacted applicants and bumped them to RD.

No, we aren’t going to pull in SSAR updates for anyone who isn’t a 3 year grad so we won’t be affected by mid-year grades

Do AOs assess weighted GPA holistically when maybe you go to a school with more difficult core classes and fewer APs? We have a lot of AP-equivalents. The regional AO should know my school fairly well even though it’s small. We just can’t have as many weighted classes as public schools.

The GPA in and of itself is just a number. We definitely look at more factors when we are making decisions. Total number of academic classes, how many advanced classes are possible vs how many did students at the school take, what does the senior year schedule look like. AP Calculus and DE College Algebra get the same GPA weight but represent a big difference in how much a student is challenging themselves when it comes to the senior year if the previous class is Pre-Calculus.

Everything is nuanced which is why saying I have a 4.7 GPA and a 32 on the ACT does not give nearly enough information about whether or not a student is going to be admitted - and why it seems to take us so long to make decisions  Which hopefully makes you feel better to know we are looking at so many things to make a decision for all of our applicants.

Do you look at and/or give value to DE’s taken through the UofF DE program? Students feel these are much more demanding than the same class taken via community college or as an AP. Some are even dropping them due to being more difficult than expected, to avoid a GPA hit

Not really - Dual Enrollment is considered Dual Enrollment

How about post AP level courses? for instance, organic chemistry taken after AP Chemistry at a highly competitive STEM school?

Is GPA considered more important than SAT/ACT? Thinking about my 4.15WGPA with 35 ACT, even though I know 35 is hardly above average anymore…

Organic Chemistry comes after AP so that would be a step up in difficulty, of course.

I would say GPA counts more since it was 3 years of work and the SAT/ACT is a test.

Happy New Year! Any word or past tracking on UoF release of EA decisions?

It will happen on Feb. 23 at 6pm. UF never releases early.

Thank you!

Last year they release 15 minutes early. some one who knew someone who worked there mentioned it on the thread so we were refreshing and right at 5:45 the decision appeared! Only 15 min, but minutes is an eternity when waiting for college decision release!!!

Anyone knows if UoF requires mid-year transcript for EA applicants? If yes, from school counselor officially or self- reported sufficient? Thank you!
