My son was accepted into the PACE program. Pretty proud of him. Because of all of the restrictions, I think he will probably still choose Tennessee but we will call and speak with advisor at UF on Monday to discuss the program and see if it’s worth the 2 years somewhere else. This was more of a reach school for him. Congrats to all who were accepted!

Essays were the best part of his application and worked all summer on them. He didn’t submit application until last minute because he was obsessing about essays. Good thing he was accepted to Honors otherwise he’d have been placed in a triple in Rawlings Hall lol.
We were warned numerous times that Honors Program considers essays most important factor. It’s an unusual process but the perks, especially for freshmen, is well worth it. Congratulations to all new gators.
Hi All…
Son got accepted to UF with
SAT -1510
IB -38/42 predicted
OOS
Did any of you know if anyone already received the Gator Nation Scholarships for OOS students…
I don’t see any mention of that in son’s acceptance.
Only they waived the $200 admission fee.
Thanks in advance
Scholarships like Gator Nation will come out in about a week.
Fell down this rabbit hole looking at the honors dorm rooms. Our daughter has been waiting to find out about getting into the honors program at UF. She got in. Only applied to UF, UCF, & Florida Polytech. We live in Florida, so she is getting Bright Futures. I am just curious if anyone knows the chances of UF giving out additional scholarships? She got 20K Poly/30K UCF in addition to the full tuition from Bright Futures.
Does anyone know how many students are accepted to the Honors Program ?
Congratulations Anisqoyo and to all who were accepted.
Son was accepted but could not make Honors program. Will not get any perks reserved for Honors students and this may very well be a major factor in our decision making (looking at course curriculum). I guess scholarships also may be reserved only for Honors students. We will find out in a week

I am new to the UF world as an observing parent and I just want to say congrats to all of you that were accepted. You have extremely impressive stats and backgrounds. We are from the northeast and I am just beginning to learn about what an amazing school UF is.
Just wondering, does anyone have any input for OOS students as it relates to assimilating on campus? We had heard that it can be a challenge for OOS students because there are not a lot of them (although plenty on this thread!). Do OOS student do ok socially? How about getting into the Greek system if they so choose?
Any input would be great.
Congrats again to you all and your amazing accomplishments!
@FLParent888 - From the UF Honors website:
Freshmen Admissions Criteria
We use a holistic approach and look at many factors. For the 2019 incoming class we had more than 9,000 applicants for approximately 700 spots in the program.
2019 Accepted Honors Freshman Profile - Middle 50% Range:
GPA 4.6-4.7
SAT 1470-1540
ACT 33-35
2019 Acceptance rate: 16%
Factors Considered in the Freshman Honors Application:
Application essays - extremely important
Academic quality of high school academic record - very important
Extracurricular involvement - very important
Class rank - not considered
Alumni/ae relations in Honors/UF - not considered
Recommendations - not considered (do NOT send)
My guess is they had significantly more applicants this year than last year for admission to the honors program. With a ~15% acceptance rate, this program has become crazy competitive.
@collegemomjam one good start would be to check out the out of state LLC (living learning community) that they call out of stater gator. On the housing part of the website.
@collegemomjam Parent of OOS (PA) freshman daughter here. UF was her top choice/reach school. It has totally lived up to her expectations.
No trouble making friends, joing a Sorority, finding her place. She’s home for Spring Break talking about classes she loves (says other students are “acheivers” and have raised her game), friends from dorm, clubs, sorority, as well as upcoming events.
She did join a bunch of clubs and is a pretty confident kid so that helps a lot to find your way on a big campus.
Congrats to all accepted. Go Gators!
Thanks so much @Houndmom! That’s great to know. Seems like an amazing place! I’m glad your daughter is adjusting so well. Congrats to her!
@grumpyfloridadad " I am just curious if anyone knows the chances of UF giving out additional scholarships? "
My son has NMF, Benacquisto, Bright Futures and Lombardi stacked on top of those so yes they do.
