Waiting for the email in order to pay for housing
Curious if you all received notification of scholarship or if it just appeared? And where do you see it? In the application portal? Was it awarded in a status update letter. We never created a UGA account so just making sure weâre not supposed to be looking somewhere else. Iâm pretty positive we donât have anything but want to be sure. Thanks!!
Sure! It was in her honors college acceptance letter and also in her portal as an update. I would look around her portal for
Sure but also thereâs still time
Thanks for the quick response and congrats on honors and merit!! Thatâs what I figured, that it would show up in a status letter in their portals. Just wanted to make sure we werenât missing anything. My D was accepted EA but did not apply for honors. She was tired by that point. lol Good luck to your kiddo!!
Not really sure what youâve been looking at.
What do you mean by that comment? Seems pretty vague.
I know you were asking about DoubleDawgs earlier and I am unfamiliar with the JD one. That being said, UGA has an excellent law school and UGA law grads are in the top law firms in the state, in the south, and in the nation.
One thing to look at though is testing requirements. UGA does require the GMAT or GRE for some of its graduate DD programs. This can sometimes be waived with a GPA of 3.75 or higher. This differs from the BS/MS program at Georgia Tech, which is GPA-based without graduate testing requirements. Not sure about the DD JD program and whether you need to take the LSAT but certainly worth figuring out.
This is something we recently found out, since my kid barely misses the cut off and wants to do another year in business analytics (he already has an emphasis). Not sure studying for the GMAT is going to be on his agenda and there are many MS business programs that donât require it.
Curious what you decided because I missed it?
UGA was in my top 3 or 4, but I ultimately decided to go to University of Florida. Thanks for the info though. UGA remains a possible law/mba choice for me.
Do you mean you canât get in without Calc?
The calculus she is talking about here is calculus 3 which is multi variable calculus. This goes after calculus 1 (differential) and calculus 2 (integral).
Yes, It is possible to get into UGA without having taken calculus. If you have taken AP calculus, you can place out of the math requirements of most majors. There is also a math test you can take to place out. Otherwise, you will just end up taking pre-calculus.
Ha! OK thanks, I panicked. I have a kid there now who placed out (took AP Calc in HS) but my next kid only took pre-calc and now is in AP Stat. Will find out in a few days what happens!
Is it Friday, yet?
We are west coast so trying to decide if my son will wait until after school to check, come home for lunch and go back a few minutes late, or just check from his phone during class. Big decision. ![]()
Last year, I said I was going to wait until school was over to check my UGA decision, but the anticipation was too great, and I opened it at school, lol.
Just wanted to point out you are posting in the GA EA 2024 forum, not 2025.
