University of Illinois Urbana Champaign Early Action for Fall 2025 Admissions

Back when my older two applied in 2021, the director of admissions was Andy (can’t remember his last name). I believe he is now at Georgia Tech. He was awesome and very active on Twitter. I remember the week of decisions he tweeted that there was no way UIUC would ever have any clues or portal astrology prior to the release. He even called out Reddit and College Confidential!

Using Mel and SD as decryption key, having the form maybe means deferred. It could also just be a sign that your portal hasn’t been updated yet. But that could also mean something if IT processes portals based on admission decision

UIUC should really give us better clues, my SBU portal showed a new form today to select a t-shirt size, now that had my crystal ball glowing :grinning:

The only counter point I’d have is that nobody on purpose designs the portal to allow astrology. It’s the patterns one can find in the changes that appear on the portal as decisions are uploaded, which can be a tell.
Purdue could have never imagined what we construed as a tell for this year

Same thing happened for Madison yesterday, they even have it in their diagnostic report that certain attributes are being stripped to avoid portal Astro, but we still found something which is something they wouldn’t even think of normally :grinning:

okay while we wait, i’m curious — did anyone here actually upload a profile picture to the illinois portal?! i saw this the other day and i was bewildered because why would anyone need a profile picture there hahaha

Even UMich had a hole in the curtain this year, even after boarding their portal up with a placeholder. Some who were later admitted could register for admitted student events, their IT dept. had to quickly delete those events from the calendar.

this just feels terrible now

Don’t feel like that. It really could be anything. And I mean it. For me this is nothing more than a fun venture to keep me distracted from overthinking about the decision.

Im OOS but UIUC was the only real target I had and now my reaches seem more impossible then ever so I’m just already thinking about having to attend my safety

im still of the opinion that form = deferral so don’t lose hope

Did this happen last year?

Thats kinda why I was losing hope unless they take a lot of people off the deffered list? Is it a soft rejection like some schools or is a deferral good?

It’s highly likely that withdraw option will disappear for everyone before decisions are released—in which order and on what basis no one knows. And eventually it’d come back for those accepted/deferred.
I wouldn’t think any less/more of my chances based on what we know right now.

They can’t afford to overenroll again this year, so my guess is there will be a lot of deferred, who will later get accepted

Last year thread was pretty dead, they didn’t do a good job of helping us.
