University of Illinois @ Urbana-Champaign vs Case Western Reserve University

I was accepted to Case and UofIllinois @ Urbana-Champaign. I visited Case and received a nerdy, determined vibe that I liked. At UIUC it was students having fun while going to school which I really liked. UIUC is #5 in engineering, but I was not admitted into engineering, meaning that I have to work hard to get into engineering. While in Case I have already been accepted into engineering. Which school will better prepare me for a a career in engineering saying that all goes well. I want to go to a school that prepares me to become an engineer, but I will need a bit of help, how does each school help their engineers?
I want a school that will prepare me, but I want to have a little but of fun too.

P.S: By the end of years I will have to pay $70,000+ at Case and about $64,000 at UIUC (that amount is likely to change as scholarships are dispersed after and my housing options change over time).

It is extremely difficult to change majors at Illinois. I would find out if it is criteria based or numbers based (i.e. do they only have a quota of kids who can switch majors and they take the top kids and the rest are out of luck). Those will be important questions for you to ask before accepting. The school itself however is great! Big school, a lot to do, a variety of students!

I’m in the exact same dilema as the OP…I’m international so I haven’t visited…any help would be great.
