University of Iowa vs Ohio State University?

Can you compare U of Iowa and Ohio State in terms of…

  1. academics (specifically Speech Pathology undergrad)
  2. college town/campus
  3. prestige/ reputation/ competitiveness
  4. anything else

Thank you!!

I attended U of I. Its a good college, but not particularly tough to get into. Its affordable both in state and OOS, and attracts a fair number of students from bordering states like IL and MN.

The Iowa City permanent population is about the same as the student population, So student events and business dominate the town. I dont know anything about Speech Pathology, but Iowa is most famous for literature, education, art, physics and its liberal arts programs in general. They complete mostly with ISU which is considered better for engineering and had science.

There is a party atmosphere, especially downtown on the weekends, but its not a think everybody does, its just a thing.

  1. Ohio State has always been known for its great academic programs, but U of Iowa isn't bad in this area.
  2. U of Iowa is in a much smaller city, with a population of around 71,000. Ohio State on the other hand is located in Columbus, OH, a large city with a city population of close to 900,000 and a metro population of ~2 million.
  3. Ohio State is more prestigious, hands down. It is also more competitive by far, with an acceptance rate of 48% compared to U of Iowa's 81%.
