University of Maryland transfer........how will a bad semester affect my application?

I would like to transfer to UMD for Fall 2011. I had a bad semester this spring. I’m currently managing a small business & for the last few months, I became preoccupied with that over school; No excuses however. How much of a factor would that have on an application if I chose to apply?

Freshman Fall (2009) - Howard University
15 Credits, 4.00 GPA

Freshman Spring (2010) - Howard University
15 Credits, 4.00 GPA

Sophomore Fall (2010) - Howard University
12 Credits, 4.00 GPA

Sophomore Spring (2011) - Howard University
12 Credits, 3.00 GPA

Summer (2011) - Howard University
7 Credits (will begin in 2 weeks)

Cumulative GPA - 3.78 GPA, 54 Credits

I think you’ll be fine. You’d need to explain the dip, but 3.00 wouldn’t be considered “bad” by any means. With your overall GPA of 3.78, that’s primarily what UMD is looking for. Good luck.
