University of Maryland (UMD) College Park Early Action 2024

EVERYONE WATCH THE MARYLAND VS IOWA GAME TONIGHT AT 8:30PM. IF MARYLAND WINS THAT WILL GIVE YOU GOOD LUCK

will scholarships and honors college info be released tomorrow?

honors college admissions will be posted tomorrow, scholarships will not @ihatecollege751

What is the latest in the day that decisions have been released? Parent/Mother here, son is calm and patient so I’ve kept a low profile. He doesn’t even know about this message group.

@CARRIEGO same story here. Finally heard last Friday. The first release was actually in November!! Congratulations on OSU.

well I’m currently umd 22 and your stats are all better than mine were

most people are saying 4:45-5 on release day

So tomorrow is the day! It’s been really nice sitting here and waiting with all of you, although anxiety fueling and wild at times. I really hope we all get in, especially since we all seem so genuinely desperate to go. I hope UMD looks at all of you holistically and gives you the decision you deserve.

Also UMD is a competitive college, and sadly cannot let everyone in. Please don’t be disheartened if you don’t get in. There are many good colleges there and this is not the only way to success. You are all wonderful hardworking people, so don’t let whatever the result is, tear you down.

Let’s hope for the best and take care of ourselves! Don’t worry too much!

anyone wanna chance me for the Compsci LEP? I know it’s much harder to get into than most of the other ones because of the new center, but I don’t really know how hard it is, so if anyone does that’d be great.

I am a senior, OOS. I am applying to compsci for cybersecurity. M, White, middle class.
GPA: 3.3, W: 3.8 (both approx, depends on this year) I know that is low, but I had a concussion junior year and missed a lot of school, which both my counselor and I explained in my app.
SAT: 1490 (M:730 E&W: 760)
APs completed: Compsci A, Human Geo, Calc AB, Lang, Physics I
AP’s this year: Calc BC, Chem, Litcomp, Gov’t
Extracurriculars: In a touring alt rock band, race mountain bikes at national level and sponsored for it by several companies, build computers/ hacking competitions, marching band, varsity swimming, volunteering.
Honors: NHS, BETA? idk if that counts
Taken 2 languages
Took the compsci AP, got a 4

@Sharon1218 LOL. Nervous parent/dad too. Same for me, my son has no idea that I am a subscriber to this forum either. Waiting patiently as well.

Fingers crossed for good news tomorrow.

@mfmtb01 I think you should be okay- your scores are good and your extracurriculars are SUPER impressive. The 4 on compsci should help too. Good luck!! Hope we both get in :slight_smile:

Random question but I’m new to this site. What does S20 stand for? I keep seeing people say “my S20” is that some sort of abbreviation for something? Sorry it’s a weird question.

@zss203484
S = son
20 =HS graduating class year

I applied to UMD early action, have a 3.88 GPA on a 4.0 scale, ranked 57 out of 214, lots of honors and AP’s throughout high school, Girl Scout Gold award recipient, lots of extracurriculars and sports, varsity cheerleading captain senior year, varsity lacrosse all four years, 29 ACT, employed every summer and throughout senior year, top 25% of my class, do you think I’ll make it into UMD?

thank you!

how likely would it be for me to get in?
sat: 1150
gpa: 3.34 weighted
honors/ap: 1 ap class, several honors classes
extracurriculars: band all 4 years, flute section leader this year, community service all 4 years
i would be a first generation student too

i’ve been accepted to all my other schools so i won’t be too upset if i don’t get into umd

I just inspected element the checklist and i got this: does anyone else have this? Also

@Echung64 Nope is it the first thing to pop up when you inspect element the checklist?

@Echung64 Nevermind yeah I have that

So, my uncle’s girlfriends’s sister’s second cousin knows someone whose daughter’s grandmother’s third cousin gets coffee for the secretary’s best friend at UMD admissions. and she says today’s the day! Haha! Seriously, good luck to all of you students and parents with your decision today! Fingers crossed for all of you!
