I’m going out on a limb, but those that were accepted to Carillon, please give me your 2 cents. I was invited to Carillon as well, and I read the info on the living communities. There are several communities, all with different areas of interest. My guess is that they invited me because of my extra curricular activities. I have done years of volunteer work by running food drives in my area as well as collecting coats for donation to those in need. I have also volunteered tons of time at a local hospital running meet and greets for kids with type 1 diabetes (my younger brother has diabetes). The Carillon Communities is a place for college kids to continue these efforts at a higher level. Maybe we were invited for our abilities outside of the classroom. Just making a guess. I can’t really think of any other reason they would have invited me.
And for those that did not make it in…please, don’t take it hard. I was practically packed and ready to go to UD until today. Now I can’t even get on the accepted students portal to schedule a visit so my Dad can see UMD. After all, he is the “authorized payor” (I visited UMD with my mom in April and I just loved it!)
@Jerzyboyz2 - Prior to registering for an Admitted Student Open House, you must complete the process in step 4 of the checklist (Acquire Your UMD Directory ID). Both your Directory ID and the Multi-Factor Authentication will be necessary to complete your registration process.

I thought I followed the directions, but maybe I was so excited I didn’t. Thanks, I’ll give it a try.

Does the asterisk next to the major designation mean anything?
@curiousme2…I believe that the asterisk means that it is a LEP major
@ImStillDre Don’t give this UMD decision any more power. Life is about learning to go with the flow in some ways - trust me, I learned that one too late! I remember being devastated when I was not accepted to Georgetown, but guess what? Years later I went to Georgetown for grad school. Congratulations on your merit award at UMBC - that is a huge honor. Take it easy!
So D20 was accepted and we are trying to do all the right steps but the UMD tech seems sketchy at best! Went on the Carillon site, took the time to research all the choices, selected the ones that interested her the most and then she wrote up her reasoning and now it doesn’t show up and she got zero confirmation that it was put in even though she submitted. Okay so we set up her directory ID go to register for an admitted students day and just comes up with tech errors. I see others indicating the issues with admitted student registration and hope they just need to correct overnight but truly not a good introduction. Anyone else?
I was accepted into the Journalism LEP! UMD is my top choice and I am so relieved!
Stats
ACT: 33
SAT: 1360
GPA W: 3.99
Well written essay, tons of extracurriculars with all leadership opportunities
Quick question: This may be early to ask about this, but my intention has always been to declare a double major with Journalism/Government and Politics with the International Relations concentration. What is the best route for doing this? Is it less likely for me to declare a double major with Government/Politics also being a LEP like Journalism is?
Daughter OOS accepted Freshman Connection

So does anyone know how someone gets chosen for College Park Scholars? i have to imagine its based on some type of criteria? I’m assuming this is some form of honors acceptance…
Did the letter said your duaghter got accepted in FC? I thought they accept applications on Mar 1.
@LocoTaco Does it actually say direct admit? My son says at the bottom …major business and advising college is Smith…does that mean he is direct admit?
@Sat2020 Freshman Connect is offered to all Freshman admitted for the Spring Semester. My DD was admitted for Spring. She describes it as still going to school in the Fall but taking classes at times of the day nobody would want…
The FC form opens March 2.
