University of Maryland (UMD) Early Action Class of 2030 Official Thread

dont see the merit scholarship line. is it along with the campus code, letter code, etc?

yes, for me it looked like:
…
“Derived_Campus_Code__c”: “CP”,
“Term__c”: “(redacted)”,
“Decision_Code_CP__c”: “10”,
“Letter_Code_CP__c”: “HA”,
“Merit_Scholarship__c”: “P5”,
“Maryland_Resident__c”: “Yes”,
“SAI_Code_1__c”: “AF”,
“SAI_Code_2__c”: “PD”
…

i see i dont have merit scholarship

maybe its cuz im not an md resident?

You mean 3.9 unweighted, right?

How many APs he had? Anything else worth mentioning?

from my understanding, OOS residents have a much harder time getting merit scholarships, but again this is just astrology so I wouldn’t immediately assume you didn’t get anything at all if you don’t see it

last year 22% got merit, near $8600 on average. What % was in/out of state, doesn’t show.

Scholarships have not yet been awarded.

On UMD’s website, the RSVP date for BK finalists is 5:00 p.m. ET on February 16, 2026. Have the finalist notifications gone out to the selected students? If not completed yet, then by when should a student (if selected) expect to hear from UMD, and any idea about when the actual finalist on-campus interview dates might be?

I’d guess they come out on Friday

They have not gone out.

Thank you for the confirmation. UMD should update the website with not only RSVP deadline for BK semi-finalists, but also other relevant information (by when to expect BK notifications, the actual interview dates, etc.).

If you receive relevant information, please update us whenever convenient.

Worked for my kid – at least, we see a code there, so we’ll see if that verifies when actual merit announcements come out. Thanks for sharing!

The Banneker/Key Scholarships are only awarded to Students who have been admitted to the Honors College. There are about 400 awarded each year (full and partial), with about 150 actually enrolling

As @STEMX pointed out above, merit awards have not yet been finalized. So the code you’re seeing is unlikely to be a definitive indicator of merit. But you’ll know in a few weeks - good luck.

Any idea how many students are admitted to Honors?

I would guess the number is between 3,000 and 4,000 but UMD does not give a number. About 1,000 students enroll in the Honors college per year (my estimate)

Good guess.

Each year, approximately 1,050 freshmen are welcomed into this highly selective academic community of scholars who call the Honors College home.

It’s hard to know how many were offered - but UMDs yield is 51.1% for in state and just 11% out of state. They don’t show international so not sure if OOS is included. Overall yield is 21.7% - so one would assume the yield on Honors is higher, but who knows.

What it shows is, most OOS admits aren’t going to end up there - for whatever the reason, high cost, other offers they preferred, etc.

Looks like Admitted Students Day is open for registration

I would highly recommend that, if possible, at least one parent also attend.

And @brother1 - Might be prudent to be careful about messing around with access to data not yet published. In a related event, albeit 20 years ago and at the graduate level, 151 students who were involved in inappropriately accessing MIT business school admission results were not only then rejected, but other schools allied with them as well.
