Your daughter got a BK email and she’s in Scholars?
My daughters merit award just came out. $5k per year (worded $20k to be distributed over 4 years) May want to check portals
Just received email about merit scholarship. Son got $32k to be equally distributed over 4 years. We are OOS.
$5k/year- OOS
My daughter got the same. We’re very pleasantly surprised since I thought we wouldn’t get anything. We’re going to the 3/6 admitted students day but we were almost 100% certain UMD was the one before this so it just sweetens the deal.
Same here( OOS 20k). 10 minutes later got invitation to their FIRE research program.
$15k per year for my OOS student!
Congratulations!!
OOS - Son also just received merit scholarship tonight and invitation to FIRE research. All of a sudden UMD might be back on the list.
$15K per year and Fire research program invite for my OOS DD
Nothing here but just happy for admission. In state 4.7 W 34 ACT
Apparently yes! My son was not admitted to Honors (disappointing for him), which is why he had taken UMD off his list after decisions came out. He just received one of the Presidential scholarships tonight ($40k total) + FIRE invitation.
My D26 just informed me that she received $15k per year + FIRE invite. Yay!
(OOS, bioengineering)
Does anyone know if they have released in state merit aid decisions or when that will occur?
It looks like merit scholarships were released last week
If a student is invited to FIRE and sends in their “application “, how likely is it that they will actually be placed in FIRE?
I don’t know a lot about FIRE, but I assume they will be placed in one of the FIRE programs if the were invited and they sent in the application. As an example, students admitted (invited) into Honors will be placed in one of the Honors Programs, but not necessarily one that they requested.
Trying to pay the deposit from 529. On the portal when you click on payment method it just shows credit card info. Can I just send from the 529?
Don’t know the answer but you might be able to send directly from your 529 to UMD. They should have multiple ways to get the mo ey, including directly to the school.
But likely easier - what I did.
I’d pay the college and seek reimbursement from the 529.
Much easier/cleaner, not intermingling the two, in my opinion. If it’s a debit card and you need the funds in advance, pull now and by Tuesday or Wednesday, they’ll likely be in your account. If a credit card, you’ll have the money far ahead of when you need to pay the cc so you can pay now. Make sure they are not charging you a cc fee. Maybe there’s a way to ACH. They must have alternatives. Not everyone has a CC.
Guess you visited and loved it.
We went to admitted students day yesterday and loved it. We were 95% there and yesterday sealed it.
