I am surprised nobody has posted yet! Prior years have been very busy.

GPA - low end of possible on paper…
Rigor - slightly above average for well-regarded HS
School doesn’t rank/nor give indication of GPA percentiles
ECs - Very Good (not amazing)
Test optional
College of Engineering - first choice
College of Natural Sciences - second choice

We have lots of naviance/scoir data since large regional HS. They definitely have a chance, but is a reach…:crossed_fingers: :crossed_fingers: :crossed_fingers:

Reading past boards looks like last year’s EA decisions weren’t released until 1/24! (before that it was in batches starting in December…)

This and the other schools I’m following for DD have been frustratingly quiet .

4.42/3.96 (2 A-)
8 AP, 16 honors, 2 DE.
School does not rank but she’s def in top 10% and is in their honors program.
Great varied EC.
1450 SAT (not superscored)
National Merit commended
Bio/pre-med

It would be great if UMass had rolling EA notifications but we have late Jan circled on the calendar.

We are similar re: GPA, also test optional, also no rank. Highest rigor the school will allow.
Strong ECs and LOR. Strong leadership experience and community service.

College of Social & Behavioral Sciences for Political Science

My son is a sophomore at UMass. UMass released them in batches that year and I believe he was in the second batch. Not sure when he heard but it was before Xmas.

I might have compulsively read the EA threads for last 3 years to figure it out;) I am not sure exactly what changed last year, but seemed very different than prior ones! I assume it is volume? not sure?

There was A LOT of complaining about decisions released in batches. I believe UMass made an announcement that, going forward, (starting last year), UMass would not release in batches and decisions would be released at the same time.

interesting, lots of schools do batches :person_shrugging: but I bet it saves them a LOT of emails to do just do it all at once at the end!

Yes, I also heard no more batches, sadly. The website says “by the end of January.”

S25 applied for College of Social & Behavioral Sciences
3.96/4.41
5 AP exams (all 5s), enrolled in 4 more now
1510 superscored
National Merit semi-finalist
top 10% of class
varied ECs with lots of commitment but no leadership positions

Right - and you’ll find lots of complaints on the boards of those schools as well.

Those complaining were those at the end of the batch cycle. So moving to an “all at once” just means the date the last batch would have been sent out is the date that everyone gets notified. So all those students that would have been in early batches now have to wait and the students in the late batches don’t hear anything any earlier than they would have otherwise.

Like you said though - from an Admissions office standpoint, saves them a bunch of calls!

S24 applied oos for CS. 4.0 UW / 34 act. 10 APs. Strong rigor, essays & recs. Feel like he’s right on the line. He’d need some merit to make it affordable for us but UMass is a top choice.

My older son applied in 22/23 cycle with lower stats for business and got auto admit honors and 14k a year. He didn’t end up there. I doubt UMass has to offer any merit to fill their CS seats but I sure hope they do!

Going to dig up the 23/24 thread for info. Good luck everyone!

Does anyone have access to the register decision form? Last year people who got in were able to access it early but mine says no access.
