@Kd6410 Maybe an admissions director would be better for you than. I am going to try emailing my rep and see where that goes
@CHS1234 let us know what happens
@Kd6410 , there’s a Meet our Staff page of Miami admission site where you can see the counselors and their regions. Email the one for your region.
@vistajay Like I posted earlier my regional rep doesn’t communicate - last time I emailed her it took her 1.5 weeks to reply
interesting
I got a 35 ACT one sitting, and a 4.1 weighted gpa (3.4 unweighted) is it worth it asking them for aid or anything? Thought I’d get like $10k a year
@dreamchaser2k18 What’s your EFC? I think the Coral Grant is based on Financial Need.
I have a 4.0 gpa, 5.2 hpa, am an IB candidate and got a 1550 on my SAT. I also took 6 AP classes before starting IB and 2 dual enrollment classes. I only received the Canes Achievement Award for $13,000 a year. Admissions said the field of candidates was very competitive this year for scholarship. How more competitive can you be as a student?
zero. @Hogglogg
So I finally heard back and there is not appeals process. The only advice she could give was to check out websites such as fast
@CHS1234
That’s a shame… I might try anyway as spring rolls around - what is fast?
Do you think they will award more scholarships when some people who received scholarships decide not to go there? I am in the same boat as some of you 34 ACT, 4.0 GPA, extra circulars and not a dime offered.
I think it obviously comes down to more than just grades and SAT/ACT scores. I got a 33 on my ACT and have a 4.81 GPA. This is about the same stats that you all have. I’ve shown interest, I’ve taken a course in the Summer Scholars Program, and have always participated in UM’s events. Universities work in strange ways.
Fortunately, I was given $80k over 4 years and got nominated for the Hammond Scholarship which covers tuition over 4 years.
I am most likely attending UM.
Wow congrats!! @nikshurta I was also fortunate enough to get a lot of aid. Can someone make a new forum for UM Hammond Scholars? That would be helpful.
just got in ED2 tonight; anyone else?? stats 1280 SAT and 96.13 weighted gpa 7 APs
My bad @Kd6410 I meant to say Fastweb
@GG1997 I got in tonight too. I was wondering if you received any financial information like Scholarships or AID from the UofM.
I’m an Int.Stu with a 4.0/4.0 U/W GPA. 1340 SAT and rigorous E.Cs.
I was really hoping to get in but unfortunately couldn’t make it. I am international student with 1390 SAT, rigorous E.Cs, good essay but a bit poor gpa. Congratulations to all those who got in!
no, I didn’t receive anything and doubt I will get a penny; my stats aren’t good enough and as an ED applicant I think that also reduces my shot at merit; I am just grateful to be admitted
I was looking at the academic departments at UM, and some of them offer scholarships such as the ones in the SOC, are first-time students not able to be awarded those scholarships? Is there a separate application? Is it only for continuing students? Just wondering bc other departments at different schools usually give merit money to students who have certain majors… Like the Annenberg School at USC awards merit money to accepted students who major in their department. Just wondering if UMiami has the same process, bc that can help a lot of admitted students who did not receive enough aid.
