University of Miami class of 2022

Ah, even though I was accepted I never received a letter.( Seems like everyone else accepted into Frost is having the same problem). I feel like that has to be a typo, how does a state school go from normal competitive acceptance rates to ivy acceptance rates.

I got waitlisted but at least im smart enough to figure out the acceptance rate isnt 6.36% The acceptance rate is around 37%. They need to fill 2100 spots but the yield rate is 17%. Doing this would result in needing to accept 12300 around people. 12300/33000 would give a 37% acceptance rate! Just like years before!

Okay, that actually makes much more sense, I was actually confused for a second. I wonder why they didn’t put the number of accepted students like other schools do. :-?

anybody elses financial aid sayn “inquiry access denied” ? i love that

@mikeesik28 How did you find out that you received a $23k/year scholarship? Was it updated on your canelink ? If yes, which section showed up how much merit aid you received?

@TusonScrool My FA info was located in the message center where it also says your admissions decision. Mine showed two more messages: One about the FA I was awarded and the other about the presidential scholarship.

@TusonScrool Look at what @AcademiaSavvy posted

Are there any prospective or admitted student weekends?

Good morning short term family! No overnight miracle updates. Still siting on the Green check ACCEPTED at bottom of student center but no messages have arrived.

What a cruel system. I’m so glad my son has no idea of how they are doing this. Good Luck to all!

Same here @JerseyParents and it’s like that for all of the Frost families I’m afraid. It’s crazy…

2100/33,000 applicants

My son was accepted EA but most likely won’t attend due to finances, so I’ve been watching this thread. This process really does feel cruel. I’ve seen universities that release their acceptances in ‘waves’ with no rhyme or reason. Then instead of notifying applicants who were rejected online, they leave the portal reading something like ‘under review’ and send a snail mail letter informing the applicant of the rejection. So everyone is left wondering what’s going on. Wouldn’t it be great if there was some universal portal like the common app where students could login on a certain date and see all decisions good or bad with financial info spelled out in black and white?

@JerseyParents @SpartanDrew Same here. Green check and Accepted words on Student Center, but nothing else since 5PM yesterday.

I have to say that USC, for example, is considerably more organized. All their decisions went out by mail yesterday afternoon, and they will be available all at once on their portal on Sunday at noon PDT. So we don’t know the decision yet, but at least the process makes sense.

@HarmonicMess Miami has always been very competitive. And they are not a state school. They are private… hence the high price tag!!! The weather, the campus and the reputation makes them popular

To those who were accepted to Frost and are wondering about scholarship notification… I looked back on my FB posts from 2013 when my son was accepted into Frost (he did successfully graduate in 4 years… last May… and is gainfully employed). He was accepted on March 12th and didn’t receive scholarship info until 28th. So I wouldn’t worry yet!!!

OK Frost peeps, everything will be out this afternoon. I got this from Frost admissions and also was confirmed by regular UM admissions. What a crazy ride… “Music letters are being posted later today. I don’t believe the university has even sent the official email to applicants to check their portal yet, so you and the others just happen to check before the process is complete! I expect the official notification from UM will be later this afternoon and everything will be posted then.”

UGHHH. At least we will all know this afternoon. 8-|

Thanks for the update @SpartanDrew

@SpartanDrew so it means than college confidential people are way ahead of the game!! :))

The boy got his acceptance letter :

Congratulations! We are delighted to offer you admission to the University of Miami. In Fall 2018, you will

Congratulations @JerseyParents !
