University of Miami Class of 2023

Last year EA results were released at 2 pm.

@DCNatFan 2pm EST? I’m in CA so I’m dreading having to get the notification while I’m in AP Lit or psych today ?

We are a little scared here. We live in a small community in Texas. The high school only offers 2 AP classes. My daughter took both. We see everyone posting 7-9-10 AP classes. Hope it will be enough. But either way good luck to everyone here!

@BigHerms They take into consideration how she was challenging herself in regards to what the school offered

@BigHerms typically universities have access to the course offerings at high schools, I wouldn’t be too worried- ā€œvigorous courseloadā€ is different at every school

@BigHerms oh and also- if there’s multiple or many applicants from the same high school, I’ve heard from admission officers they can get a sense of how difficult particular classes are at certain schools. My high school for example, it’s well known that AP Environment Science and AP Psychology are the ā€œeasiestā€ AP’s on campus and it’s reflected by the wide range of GPAs and test scores of students who take it. On the other hand, there’s non-weighted classes available like marine ecology and advanced biotech that prove to be much harder and the colleges are able to get a sense of it

Thanks for the encouragement! Out of all the threads of the schools my daughter has applied to/accepted this one has had the most courteous and down to earth people on it. Says a lot about the university if this is the type of young adults and families it attracts. Again, good luck!

@BigHerms You make a great point about the people on this thread.

2 EST?

@BigHerms Your guidance counselor sends a report to the college noting how many APs the school offers and also the rigor of your daughter’s course load. Sounds like she took the ā€˜most rigorous’ course load. This matters.

Hi! I got the information from Fedex that I have a mail from the University through Fedex. Is it the offer? Or do people who get rejected receive such a mail?Btw, I’m an International student.

i am trying to log onto canelink from my phone… not accepting my password… any suggestions?

Does anyone know if it’s possible to call their financial aid office if I get in and try and heckle for more aid? My FAFSA and CSS disqualify me for need based, but they really don’t reflect my family situation and I don’t think the Presidential scholarship goes above $23k bc I’d need only another few thousand but I’m trying to avoid loans before med school

@sfruhling I think it is easiest to just reset ur password

@BigHerms @STEM2017 @SlimJim005 this is a fantastic site to share info, commiserate about the delays and struggles (financial, etc) but you gotta take the good with the bad Herm. Some people post to hear themselves brag for validation (I have a 5.5 WGPA, think I have a shot at Community College?) or they spread false info to ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  or dissuade people from applying to a college they want to get into. My advice is follow along for info, take a lot of what you read with a ginormous grain of salt, and above all - be super proud because your kid has done tremendous. There’s a great home for her somewhere, these things have a tendency to work themselves out and we’ll all have more info soon! Good luck

@mypricelineemail true! This thread is also the only thing keeping me entertained in ap stats right now lol

@mypricelineemail Bravo! Couldn’t have said it better myself. Thank you.

Logic says today based on the previous two years, I think it could be next Thursday though!

@bteeny I don’t think it would be Feb 7th, the common data set just released states it will be released Jan 31st. People who’ve called Admissions said no later than this Friday at 6 PM. Hopefully earlier than later

I hear ya, what’s your EFC? Does anyone know if there is a cut off for the efc? Example is 30 or 40 to high to qualify for a grant?
