Hi! Is there any truth that students who switch to ED2 are only accepted for a Spring start? We are hearing rumors of this.
D3 was accepted into Herbert for Finance. She got the presidential scholarship.
Even with that, the cost is very high (U Miami costs seemed to have really jumped this year from what I had in my spreadsheet from prior year, and man, the meal plan and housing are about 10K per year more than almost anywhere else in the country).
Sheās very excited, and proud, but we will see how that stacks up to other offers from schools.
Her stats if itās helpful to anyone: 4.0UW, 5.2W, 1510 SAT, 10 APs and 10+ H. ECs were mediocre, varsity soccer and some clubs and charity stuff. No major hook. She did win an award from the HS, top 2% or so of 550 kids.
Condolensces to those who did not get in, and for those who got deferred, keep your chins up because I am sure a lot of kids may end up passing on the very big price tag and slots may open up.

My son got deferred from EA and switched to ED II and was accepted for a Spring start. I know that others were accepted for a fall start at that time though. It worked out well for him but on campus housing was not an option.
My son was accepted with the Isaac Bashevis Scholarship and invited to the Foote Fellows Honors Program . Go CANES!

Yep. I noticed this as well. A significant jump in cost from last year and the posted costs donāt even take into account the significantly higher cost of off campus housing which one needs to plan on for at least 2 years. Definitely pushing the boundaries of what Iād like to pay even though this is a great school!

Does anyone know if you apply ED ll, do you only get accepted for spring or can you get the falls semester still?
They do both Fall and Spring starts in ED II. If you get a Spring start, you are released from your ED obligation.

Hi Everyone! Does anyone know about the housing application process at UMiami? For example, is it first come first serve?
My D23 class of 2027 was accepted at both UMiami and UF. (OOS) When we went to the admitted students day last year at UM they said the acceptance rate was 19% I believe. UF was 23% overall, a little lower for OOS. I think the average GPA and test scores were comparable, but as the other user said UF is test required while UM is test optional. That probably skews the test averages up a bit for UM. (only kids with higher tests will submit.)
Thank you for this! UF is my dream school so iām just going to take my acceptance at U Miami with test scores as a good sign for UF.
Incidentally, she chose UF and is so happy with her choice. Even with the scholarships she received from UM and outside, it would have been about 15K more a year to send her to UM and frankly, UF is just a better fit. Best of luck to you!
