University of Miami Early Action / Early Decision for Fall 2024 Admission

Would you mind sharing what year she is and what her stats were, that would be helpful.

She graduated in 2022, so she’s a sophomore at UM now. She had a 98% W (doesn’t get much higher than 101% at our school. Test Optional. Strong extracurriculars (consistent job and leadership roles) and had some relevant business/research awards. Top 10% of class. She’s in the Herbert Business School at UM.
My DS has stronger stats, but I feel like it has gotten harder to get into schools.

Great stats! Yes, I agree with you on that.

Do we have a rough timeline for EA decision release? I know it’s probably on their website but I can’t find it lol

I don’t think they have released a specific date yet. My best guess would be Friday, January 26.

We marked no need for financial aid on application as we don’t think we will qualify and we wanted to advantage ourselves in the admissions process. If we send in the FAFSA form will colleges like Miami know?

Yes, they will see it come in, but they might not process it since you said you don’t want aid. U Miami is esentially need blind though, except in a very small amount of cases.

Hmmm
I thought they were a need-aware school

They are technically, but it only makes a difference for admissions in VERY limited cases.

Ok
got it
thx for the insights

I believe that’s correct, that they are need-aware.

They are, but only in limited cases.

To be clear, need-aware means they are fully aware of a student’s financial needs when they are making decisions. Need-blind simply means that a student’s ability to pay is not part of the admission decision.

Today, DS received the “check your portal” email to make sure you can access it before decisions are released at the end of the month. Has anyone heard of a set date yet?

I heard last year’s EA decisions got posted on last Friday of January, so my best guess would be 1/26 this year.

My point was about risk of merit consideration.

We didn’t get this email. Bad sign?

I don’t think it is a sign at all. Just make sure you log on to your portal to make sure everything is set and ready to receive a decision - whenever that might be!
