University of Miami Fall 2018 Transfer

So did you get a decision?

If I have a 3.3 college GPA, 33 on the ACT, and good extra-curriculars, do I have a shot of getting in?

groupme is a good group chat app!

no not yet im still waiting for the decision

@adamkennedyt if you have over 30 college credits, then ACT/SAT + High School transcripts scores are not considered for admission.

Just applied for Political Science, visiting in March. Decided last minute to add UMiami to my list. 3.679 GPA, 42 credits, good recs + essay, great ECs.

Where do you find the average GPA for transfers?

Does anyone think I have a chance of getting in?

Here are my stats:

Current School: Broward College (2-year institution.)
Major: Criminal Justice
Current Cumlative GPA: 3.18 (is expected to be a 3.3 by the end of the semester.)
Credits: Completed 49 credits and expected to have my AA by the end of the semester (60+ credits.)
Letter of Recommendation: 1 from a professor at UM, 1 from an officer in the U.S. Air Force, 1 from my employer, and 3 more from other connections I have (6 in total.)
Extra Curricular’s: Member of the National Society of Leadership & Success & Community Service with Church.

Thanks!

anyone hear anything back

@ruizjeancarlo It looks like you have a shot of getting in!

@byrd98 I wouldn’t get my hopes up of getting a reply soon, best case scenario is that they send out decision letter in March, if not then it’ll be early April unfortunately.

It’s March guys! May the odds be ever in our favor, good luck to everyone applying!

Do they come out with decisions in March or April?

Hi everyone! I’m so happy that a thread has been opened. I’m super nervous about my decision. Below you’ll find my stats and questions!

Incoming Junior Transfer from Florida International University
GPA 3.5 CUM (hope to raise that with my spring grades)
Will transfer with 44 total credits (planning to take a summer course)
Recommendation letter from my internship employer at BBC Worldwide

My application was deemed complete on January 31. I asked my adviser when would hear back because UM’s website had conflicting dates. One page said “rolling basis” while the other said “early April”. My adviser told me that the safest bet is early April but I’m still hoping that rolling is the case!!! I’m incredibly eager to find out.

Please keep the thread updated as to whether or not you heard back.

Kindly,

Daniela

Hey everyone,

I have been communicating with an transfer evaluator in the admissions office and they told me decisions will be going out in early April.

Best Regards,

Jeancarlo

Also guys, when I applied two years ago (got rejected) I applied for regular decision and was told to expect a response by early April. My decision came out on March 21st! So I think we should just hang tight as of now and expect our decisions to come out as of today until early April. It can happen any day now!!
Hope the odds are in our favor.

super nervous, ahhhhh

I hope we all get in

Best wishes to y’all, I was on the transfer thread last year, when their “Priority Registration” was April 1. Their admissions is a bit incompetent, to say the least. I phoned a couple of times (some of you may notice that they offer different answers so it’s best to call a few times and see which answer comes up the most often). Anyway, two people said that all the applications received by April 1 are reviewed together so it doesn’t matter if they receive it before April 1. . . WRONG! Somewhere along the way, I realized it was rolling admissions (when people here started posting that they were offered admissions). Anyway, after submitting, they kept telling me “4-6 weeks”. Throw in someone’s week-long vacation, and in the end, it was about 10 weeks that we finally heard from them, in June! It was a nail-biter.

As they state on their website, they continue to review applications until they are full. My son was placed in an upperclassmen dorm for 4 (bathroom separates two rooms) and there were only three of them, so I wonder if they didn’t even fill all the transfer apps (but maybe there were more commuters, I am making a big assumption). Warning, Mahoney/Pearson upperclassmen dorms are really old. But U of Miami is and outstanding college with happy, sociable students, things to do all the time on and off-campus. Again, he didn’t hear until June and was able to get into the dorms too.

Hi guys, I NEED YOUR HELP!!!

My application is deemed complete on canelink but just today my todo list was updated and the deadline said March 1st… it’s March 8th! Those things that are updated are some documents that I do not have access to because they’re from my precollege experience. I’m in full panic right now and don’t know whether or not my application is complete even though it says so. SOS
