University of Miami Fall 2018 Transfer

I got sent that stuff to back in February and had it complete idk what it means about being considered but I filled that out a month ago when it popped up on my to do list

how many credits did your son have @analmom like what were his stats meaning gpa, year, exctacurriculars, and athletics

I just think it’s interesting that the school is requesting tax information (through college board.) I don’t think they’d be asking me for that info I wasn’t being accepted or considered. At least to me it wouldn’t make sense. Just make an assumption but I could be wrong.

I know thats how I feel well hopefully you got accepted do you think if I called the admissions office they would say

I asked admissions and they told me decisions are coming out soon and that they have everything they need from me and that they are separate from financial aid office. If I have any questions to contact them.

wow neat do you know how soon

@byrd98 : My son had 5 semesters of credits at a 4-year university (almost 100 credits), 3.2 GPA in a rigorous major. He was in two academic honors clubs, a couple of clubs related to his major, but was not an active member of any. His foundation courses were so rigorous that he had to study a lot.

It’s difficult to know who will be offered admissions because there are so many variables: essay, letters of rec, GPA, openings in the department. I read here that someone was rejected with a 3.2 GPA. Maybe his department had more openings or maybe that person’s essay wasn’t strong, who knows. My son’s letter of rec was not outstanding (guessing). His essay was very good. He had visited the campus and was also waitlisted at UM for freshman year (noted in essay) so I think that helped that they considered him highly from his high school application. He had a very generous merit scholarship at the other college but no merit scholarship at UM so we are paying full price. Although he doesn’t drink/smoke, his social life is a blast (students are engaged, UM provides activities, there’s also Miami) and he has great professors and the size of the school is perfect, not not too large (where you never see the same people), not too small (where you see all the same people).

I hope the best for all of you, and try for Spring semester if you are rejected. Students are friendly so it shouldn’t be a problem finding friends mid-year. Students at his last college (a huge public school) were bored with life, different wavelength, just smoked/drank because there was nothing else to do.

@byrd98 I was told first week of April.

By who? An admission counselor?

@itzmejessie yes and by a transfer evaluator.

If our application was deemed complete, do we need to submit a mid-year report?

Hello, I applied to UofM for the fall '18 as well!

Here are my stats:

Major: Computer Engineering/Computer Science
HS GPA: bad… haha
College GPA: 3.82-3.85 when i finish
Credits: 145 (I finished a lot of courses and all of the prereqs for my program for junior entry)
Extracurriculars/Essay: i think strong

They just asked for a bunch of documents to be submitted through IDOC for my financial aid stuff this morning also. I haven’t submitted a midterm report because they haven’t asked for one, but they did ask for my final transcripts with my spring grades which won’t be available until the first week of May.

I did all that idcc stuff and sent in my fall semester transcripts and high school and act scores still nothing on my to do list should I be scared that they aren’t asking me for my final transcripts

Well… CaneLink is down lol

Does anyone know when canelink will be back up?
