can they hurry already!!! i just want to know
Hey everyone,
I have a buddy at admissions and he told me (as mentioned before) admission is on a rolling basis, meaning that they will contact you with a decision determined by the date your application was deemed complete.
For example, my application was deemed complete in late February and so I should be hearing by the end of this week or beginning of next week (but NLT than April 15th.)
Keep in mind that if you’re application was deemed complete later you will probably hear a lot later from admissions.
Patience children!
My app was deemed complete late February as well. So they said at the end of this week or next? @ruizjeancarlo
@bbm217 I sent in my mid term report as well my transfer evaluator will let me know if she still wants my final grades may I ask what are your stats
@tatidee123 yes either the end of this week (Thursday or Friday) if not then next week.
my application was complete on valentines day
I got my application submitted the day before the deadline. So that’s good to hear.
mine was completed march 5th
Mine was complete January 5th
Do you think they pair transfers with transfers for dorms?
@Syrgrlmayb12 Probably not, it’s most likely random, but who knows! They might!
If my application was deemed complete on March 2nd, should I expect a decision closer to the 15th?
do transfers dorm with transfers?
oh boy! By the way is anyone pre-med?
@Syrgrlmayb12 I’m premed.
Same
Yes, transfers are in the same dorm, either Mahoney or Pearson, both are very old and not nice, unfortunately. And windows don’t open. It’s two to a room, a bathroom connecting to another room. So 4 people share an old bathroom. My son uses the downstairs restroom for serious business because it’s more pleasant. My son doesn’t care about the old dorm because UM is such a great experience. There is a new dorm being built in the middle of campus but it won’t be finished until Fall 2019. They also have several days of orientation so the students get to know each other. My son doesn’t have a magnetic personality and he has met a lot of friends because again, people are open-minded and friendly.
I just realized that students who have not taken any psych class probably think my alias is odd! It’s not sexual, it means anal-retentive (a person who is excessively orderly and fussy). This website won’t allow me to change the name.
Someone posted that if you are rejected, be happy for what you have. As my alias implies, I would not support that advice. Reapply for spring semester, there are less applications. Look where you can improve your application (grades, essay). Search online advice for transfer essays (which are different than freshman essays). Include that you applied once already but still want to attend UM. My son could have graduated from his last college after one more year but will spend two years at UM. Had he stayed at his last college, he would have missed the amazing experiences at UM. Try, always try for your dream school—you don’t want to regret later—even if UM turns out to not be “all that”, you will at least know. Best wishes.
if we want to pay for a single room can we?
@mishk90 They don’t have enough single rooms—they go fast. You have to stay in the dorm for one year so you have priority choice the following year. Call to confirm this, maybe you can get a double-as-a-single if they have room. There is also University Village, which is newer: you need 60+ credits and it’s a half-mile, 12m walk to campus. If you think you might want UV, get on the waiting list ASAP. https://hrl.studentaffairs.miami.edu/living-on-campus/our-residential-communities/index.html
