University of Michigan Ann Arbor Early Action Fall 2024

the random thursday release date in 2019 after years of being released on a wednesday gives me hope that maybe?? there’s a chance we’ll get it released today?

I wish Michigan would go back to old release date of pre-Xmas. Having that admissions decision early, an acceptance in her case, was extremely uplifting in terms of her spirits. It’s such a difficult process.

And Michigan just makes it worse by postponing a majority to the end of March.

Thank you for the update do you know what time? Is it 3 PM Eastern standard time?

Funny story.

That Thursday release in 2019 was the one release where I got punished online here.

Someone had inside info and said it would be that Thursday. Of course, everyone knows someone in admissions on the Internet. And I said, “nope, not gonna happen.” No Thursday releases ever.

The person demanded an apology, which I gave here online, but then she demanded a better, more elaborate apology. To which I did no. Ooh, she was mad.

Anyway, today could happen. :joy:

Not enough " :+1:" and "" can make up for the :poop: you take on a public forum. Still, thank you for what you do!

And then you have to wait for Ross acceptances :expressionless:

And up to 10 days for CS advanced selection. Too complicated.

Didn’t ask. Sorry. I would assume consistent with prior years.

I think with the exponential increase in application volume, it just isn’t practical to have a pre-Xmas release.

I do think, however, is that the huge number of deferrals in just plain disingenuous. Don’t call it EA if for the vast majority (of OOS) applicants it really isn’t.

Not to mention that it isn’t particularly early either. So it’s neither “Early” or “Action”.

So wait - she demanded an apology for admissions coming out EARLIER than expected??

Michigan probably likes to weed out all the students who were accepted somewhere ED in December. Those students have to withdraw their other applications, so not accepting them helps Michigan’s yield. It is more student-friendly to have a December release for EA, but not much about college admissions is engineered to be student friendly.

Is CS the same as Ross with 3 possible acceptance dates (Feb, March or April)??

Tbh I’ll take a later acceptance date if all the ED kids are weeded out

Nah. Just within 10 days

Imagine man

There is probably some benefit for OOS kids at schools where large swaths of the senior class apply to Michigan/UNC/UVA EA as backup for their Ivy+ acceptances.

Yeah I’m OOS but for me umich is a school that I genuinely really want ti go to and not as a backup
