THREE TIMES the good luck!! This is the best.
As a distraction from portal astrology, I hope it’s ok to post a link to this article which focuses on how UNC-CH uses AI in its admissions process. The reason I thought it was relevant to this community is the comments from current and former UM admissions counselors on how AI is not used at Michigan.
Ava Butzu, a former senior admissions counselor at the University of Michigan, said that their Office of Undergraduate Admissions never used AI to score essays or for any other part of reviewing applications. Current admissions counselor, Alicia Czinski, confirmed that Michigan still does not use AI in its review process.
While Butzu worked at Michigan, she said the admissions office never discussed using AI in its review process. Butzu said understanding the context of a prospective student’s application — their school’s average SAT scores, academic offerings and clubs — was a key part of how readers evaluated applications, which is part of why Butzu said she thinks the Michigan admissions office doesn’t use AI in the review process.
“I think there’s a huge point of pride about that,” Butzu said.
Butzu said she thinks that using AI to evaluate college applications could take away some of the humanity in the review process, especially because of the likelihood that many applicants are now using AI to write their essays.
Hey I was wondering where I could see the specific stats for LSA like the acceptance rate, average test scores, and gpa. I was also wondering how competitive LSA is during the EA round and how many will will admit based on the past.
You have to read the whole thread. The answers lie somewhere in there…lol
Look mostly in section 2.
So everything is competitive.
In" theory " around half the class is accepted during EA. That of course if people accept. So that leaves the other half for RD. Figure around 3500 each. This is just ball park and not exact numbers. But it will give most something to work with.
Total around 15,000 admitted go out and a percentage accept. It’s a bit less but around there depending on the class size and what they need for that year. Figures all differ but they manage to get to the size they need. This is just an illustration. Not exact numbers.
Keep in mind all the scholarship athletes etc. It’s very competitive to get in and most feel fortunate.
This might explain it a bit better.
So it will be asked somewhere around 900 Students athletes yearly and pretty smart also.
Also about 30% of the marching band are usually engineering students.
Yup was coming here to post this.
Re: not using AI, I will say that when our twins went to the re-visit day last year we met the reader for our kids’ school. She said she remembered their applications, which I doubt given the volume, but, hey you never know, especially bc they’re twins.
Hello! Parent here. When looking around the website, I came across this page and there are green dates. When I clicked on one it said “tours are for admitted students only.” Curious to see if anyone else can sign up.

Denying access for my daughter. All of the dates are available which would indicate no one can sign up yet. Not sure if athletes know ahead of time?
Not sure. Feb 13 appears grayed out, but still shows links below to “register.” I need to get back to work haha but this is fun. Either way, hopefully this means decisions come out soon.
I think it’s grey b/c it defaults to that date. Click on 2/20 and then 2/13 is green. I know, it’s all so crazy!! Is it Friday yet!!!
Omg you’re right! Haha! Seriously, put us out of our misery!
If you’re admitted and can swing it for timing and financially I’d recommend going to one of the later dates. We got SUPER lucky on our revisit last year. It was St. Patrick’s Day weekend, the weather was pretty mild (50s and sunny), and kids were out in force basically being crazy and social. The place was absolutely buzzing and made a super positive impression on us all.
It says that for everyone
Of course
Were you able to sign up?
If you look at Reddit or the CC thread from last year, I’m pretty sure that being able to sign up for admitted students day or not was in no way an indicator of admissions.
@Knowsstuff , @DroidsLooking Do either of you remember?
No!
From what I can remember it pops up early but not always the week of the announcements. I am sure some of the slueths here will look that up.
