University of Michigan Ann Arbor Early Action Fall 2025

I’m pretty certain that if you’re able to sign up, it would mean acceptance, especially since it’s clearly not allowing it at this point, with an error that it’s only for admitted students.

We’re still more than 24 hours away from the decision (assuming they are released tomorrow). I wouldn’t expect the admitted student link to work before we’re anywhere close to the decision notification time (if at all it works). That’s how it’s been for many other schools.

PS: by “working” I mean being able to sign up for the event. Currrently, anyone who’s signed in to the portal, will by default see their name in the events page, but not allowed to sign up.

Last week UMass worked a few hours before.

so…has anyone been able to sign up for a visit out of curiosity?

I have access to this page…

It looks like it’s open now for everyone. You can also see it in incognito mode

(This also might be further evidence that decisions are coming tomorrow)

There’s also a slightly different-looking Admitted Students Tour page linked from the Campus Day page: https://enrollmentconnect.umich.edu/portal/adm_stu_tours

So… I am assuming those who get accepted early action are the outstanding applicants, does anyone know the average percentage of EA students that get accepted first round?

I think @Knowsstuff has mentioned before that roughly half all students that Umich admits are through early action, so roughly 8k out of some 55k-65k EA applicants are admitted. That’s around 13%. Might be wrong though, since they never release EA statistics anywhere officially.

Will there be denials with EA decisions?

Some, but most people get deferred

It’s a theory.

Take off 1,000 people that are scholarshiped.

Michigan will tell you there is no advantage to applying early but it seems like those students might be slightly higher Stat students. But in RD there are also plenty of those.

Tomorrow just in case we will ask you all for some basic information to help figure this out for the next group.

Most here will be here till April so buckle up.. This is just a microcosm of the real world.

There is an RD thread also if needed.

Nevermind–I just figured I did something wrong.

Were people last year who were not able to sign up ever accepted?

I am still confused - can people sign up for a specific date?

It’s extremely unlikely that a non admitted applicant would be able to sign up, especially since it’s giving a very specific error.
Even if some people last year reported that they could sign up but weren’t admitted, I’d imagine that they probably just assumed that seeing the calendar on the events page was was equivalent to signing up.

Wait so could you sign up or not?

I’m asking the other way around. Were students who could ever NOT sign up ever admitted EA in the past?

I think what is happening is that people can see the dates that are available but when they click on the time slot they get the error that they cannot sign up until they are admitted. hopefully this is the standard error until decisions come out and not a prediction of outcome.

tbh I don’t think anyone can sign up right now. Decisions will be out in less than 24 hours why to worry.

Yeah, but it’s possible that a few hours before decisions are officially released admitted students may be able to sign up through the page.
It entirely depends on how UMich has coded the events page and backend DB. If it’s the same DB as admission status, then people should be able to sign up atleast a few hours in advance, since the decision can’t be just pushed out on the UI without backend updates first.
