did your portal ever lock
Daughter said social media is abuzz with hope that today is the day… She mentioned that her portal was locked as of late last night. EEEEK! We could be close! Best of luck to all!
I just wish they’d tell us, at this point they have to know and since my son will be at school I want to make plans as to when he opens etc. There is no reason at this point not to just say it will be today or next Friday. They know.

They said on their website “end” of January. Today is the 24th.
Now it’s financial aid Friday… Never saw this before on a release day. Lol.

I just can’t help thinking today is the day. Why else would they change the portal and post the cube so early fully knowing people will expect decisions?

See my post just above yours. They explicitly list it as “Not Considered” in the most recent CDS. Re: the subsequent comment about perhaps using it to take kids from the WL bc those kids are more likely to yield, I guess I could buy that though, if Michigan were that concerned about yield, they could do what other schools do, e.g. UChicago, which first call you to ask if you’ll accept off the WL. Maybe the sheer numbers are too large for UMich to bother with that.
There’s truly no such thing. It’s always tempting to compare bc certain parts of an application, esp universal things like SAT or ACT, can be directly compared. # of APs. Even softer things like “2 sport varsity athlete” or whatever. Or two kids from the same school, one with a higher GPA than the other. But that stuff is always just the beginning and never the end of what makes an applicant who they are (or appear to be) to the adcom.
Said another way, the reality IMO is that there are way more qualified kids - academically - applying for the UMich’s of the world, than there are spots. So the stuff that’s “identical” more or less is just table stakes.

This is hilarious, had to send to my daughter. That said… I think this might be an indicator that today is the day.
Has anyone called? Sometimes they’ll tell the day of. (I am obviously saying this as a person who has NOT called. LOL).
I am able to sign up for an actual tour date today. I could not yesterday.

They have never told the day of the last 8 year’s. They will say they don’t know up until the decision time. They will repeat what on the website. FYI
I just talked to a Michigan insider 
. She is walking over to Admissions this morning. I told her to do what’s needed to get the information …

Could be something good for you. We tried to go and sign up for an actual tour but after we clicked on a date, it said it was for admitted students only. Not a great sign for us, if it is a sign at all but could be wonderful for you. Good luck!
I can’t, and it’s a high reach for us so nothing surprising. I’m sure of two things:-
- Those who can sign up are admitted 100%
- Decisions are imminent today
