In short, 14 of America’s 400 (~4%) current billionaires are Wolverines. Not bad if you ask me!

Here’s a list of other notables who count themselves among the Wolverine faithful:

-Bloch, Henry (BS) Founder of H&R Block
-Borders, Louis (AB) Founder of Borders Bookstore
-Burnett, Leo (BA, Journalism) Founder of Leo Burnett, the largest advertizing agency in the World. He is credited for creating Tony the Tiger, the Malboro Man (yikes) and the Pillsbury Daughboy (aawwwww)!
-Frock, Roger (MBA) Founder of Federal Express
-Merrill, Charles Edward (JD) Co-Founder of Merrill Lynch
-Walgreen, Charles (Pharmacy) Founder of Wallgreens

This list does not include the dozens (over 100) of men and women that have reached the ranks of President, CEO, CFO of Fortune 500 companies.

When one think about it, it is pretty amazing that Michigan alums have founded companies such as Borders, Domino’s, Federal Express, Google, H&R Block, Leo Burnett, Merrill Lynch, Sun and Wallgreens and led companies like Ford, GE, GM etc…

Yeah, it is pretty amazing! GO BLUE

wow thats really awesome!

yay for stephen ross.

ya but u forgot the fact that some of them might hav gone to a different grad school

Bearcat, whether they graduated from other undergraduate and graduate programs doesn’t make them any less a product of the University of Michigan or any less loyal to the institution. Most of them have already donated millions of dollars to the University.

well i m not bltching or anything…in fact i got defered by cornell and i was so ****ed i almost sent them this letter

Dear Admissions Committee
I am extremely sorry to inform you that I am unable to sell myself short and wait for your late and stupid decision. Pleasae understand that all the college credentials have been reviewed seriously and throughoutly. The applicant attracting process is extremely competitive and, well, you have lost. I would like to wish you all the best in the process of grabbing most of the HYPS ED rejects and hold up the fight against brown and dartmouth for the common applicants. Also, best of luck staying in the ivy league.
Yours sincerely,
ME

i just got rejected from cornell (which is a wonderful school and should not be thought of as otherwise), but that last comment made me smile. I’m visiting Mich soon so hopefully i’ll love it and end up there!

For an even larger list of famous alumni:
http://alumni.umich.edu/info/um/famous_alumni.php</a>
It’s an ecletic list that includes everything from reality TV participants and the unibomber to famous directors and politicians.

eeemillee, you and i are in the same boat. although i have already visited Michigan.

i’m pretty sure Tom Monaghan the founder of dominos pizza, didn’t go to college, meaning he didn’t go to u of m. Yes he is from Ann Arbor, but that means nothing

^No, you’re wrong. He went to UMich.

AJW, Tom Monaghan attended the University of Michigan for a couple of semesters, intent on studying Architecture. However, he and his brother ended up buying a small pizza join in Ypsilanti and he dropped out of college. So although he isn’t an alum, he did in fact attend the University, if only for a year or so.

Bearcats, I was so tempted to write a similar letter to Tufts, after I was rejected. I really hope I get into michigan now, but im OOS so it may be a close one.

Does William Clay Ford, Sr. count as a billionaire?

my name shall be included in the university of michigan billionaire list sometime soon.

all the fords went to hotchkiss…my highschool …booyah

and i know for a fact that he went to princeton undergrad, and then Sloan for MBA…never went to U of M…he lived in ann arbor thou

and if you mean the william clay ford SR, he went to yale

Too bad he was sick on the day Yale taught how to hire football executives.

good one …
