University of Michigan Class of 2023 - Deferred Applicants

Ross sent an email giving the dates of the decisions, including today and 4/19 after 5PM. So this will not be the last wave of emails for Ross. (Although I guess it’s possible that 4/1 is all rejections or waitlists since there haven’t been any of those yet. )

Funny I always suggest patience…

“I’d say, if UMich is your #1, patience”.

( sushiritto )

First to admit I am guilty of losing my patience with this trickle out approach. D18 is happy to be accepted. The PPE major, mock trial team and connections with students already at U of M makes it a good fit already.

That said U of M is very high on d18’s list and we have set a date to visit in April Looking to feel the vibe and then decide.

Best Wishes to all in their Options and Choices

anymore tonight for LSA?

Ross emails could still drop? @sushiritto
I’m OOS and I haven’t gotten an update for Ross. Was accepted LSA 3/1

@bonecrusher535 Yes, I think a few Ross decisions may still yet come. There are admitted studetns out there debating between Ross and other universities. These students may or may not take their Ross offers. But we’re coming to the end of the line for Ross for sure.

@sushiritto so far I’m only hearing of Ross rejections from this wave… do you think accepted emails haven’t been sent yet or will be sent soon

Honestly, I don’t know. But the fact that you haven’t been rejected yet, seems to me that there’s still the possibility for good news.

I got waitlisted, should I send another LOCI? Also, how early have people gotten off the waitlist in the past and what is the average time it takes to get off?

Waitlisted after EA Deferral
My decision tab did disappear and I received my decision today around 9-10am
3.7 UW
4.07 W
1500 SAT
1/460 rank
2-year varsity athlete, NROTC, 4 languages, multiple clubs, lots of community service
I was an in-state applicant who applied to LSA with preferred admission to Ross
I sent a LOCI in mid-March

A little hurt as Michigan has always been a goal of mine, especially as an in-state student, but thankfully Cornell accepted me

I’d really like to see Michigan improve the way in which they handle releasing their decisions, I thought their process was very bizarre and at times very frustrating, especially after getting deferred in December. Thank you for all your insight and help through the process, this thread has been very helpful and informative!

Congratulations to those who got accepted, UoM is a great school!

Mirp2019 if you are willing to walk away from the deposit you place on a uni you are accepted at and you don’t need additional money to attend UofM then simply tell them you will accept if offered a slot. But other than that waitlist is like flying standby…your name might come up or it might not. Your file is complete. Some kids can turn on a dime in June but most are already engaged with a uni they have chosen or gone to orientation, picked classes etc. from their acceptances.

Son waitlisted. OOS LSA, 1600 SAT, 4.0/4.83 GPA, IB diploma candidate, multiple state-level awards, significant research, many ECs and other stuff, great recs. Didn’t send in a LOCI. Yield protection? They were correct I guess because he’s going to Caltech. Still feels weird.

My son was accepted to COE as I posted earlier but I thought I’d mention that there were students with higher stats and near same extras who were either rejected or wait listed from his HS. I believe the difference was my son reaching out on his own to his AO but also on the suggestion of his GC, he had his varsity baseball coach, [my S is captain], write up a letter of character which the GC forwarded to the AO. She also followed up with a call to demonstrate my interest. I have heard the April 19 date as the potential date so I would suggest to think outside the box if you feel comfortable doing so. What’s the down side? Full Court Press. (Sorry, might be a poor choice of words after last nights game). Good luck

April 19th as the date for what?

OOS waitlist LSA
ACT 34
4.0 dual enroll GPA
Graduating w/32 college credits
Extensive performing arts and music background

My kid did not apply to schools where merit is not possible. He is wait listed for SMTD as well. He did take that wait list offer and much more likely to get pulled from that list. He won’t attend unless he is offered a spot in music. Music say double degree is easy to start once enrolled.

Has not committed to another school but has 3 good music dual degree offers.

And FTR we have visited campus twice in the past 8 months and it’s like a 10 hour drive. If that’s not interest I don’t know what is.

OOS LSA waitlisted
National Merit Finalist
SAT 1570
GPA 4.0 uw / 5.1 w
have taken 13 AP classes in HS
I won’t bother describing my ECs or essays bc those are entirely subjective but I did ECs
No LOCI sent

I accepted the waitlist offer. Michigan was my top choice, and it actually seemed attainable compared to the other schools I wanted to attend. At first I was happy about not being outright rejected but now I’m pretty sad because I don’t have a backup choice that I love. All my favorite schools have been rejections. I’ll obviously be putting in a deposit somewhere else by May 1st but I’m sure as hell gonna be praying for some kind of miracle in May/June.

Congrats to all accepted!

Yes on sending a letter…

D18 was waitlisted at GU today and they said they would likely hit the list within two weeks of May 1st.

Not sure with U of M

@jjandj No, white male from the suburbs if Boston. Sucks

Sorry I’m late guys I was running around doing a lot of last minute things before spring break today.

Anyways, heard back from Ross @ exactly 4:00 pm CST
Accepted In State LSA 3/1
Accepted In State Ross 3/29
ACT - 28
Really Good Rec (In my opinion)
Good Essays
Good EC’s 4 year 2 varsity sport athlete

Reading that acceptance letters has been one of the happiest points in my entire life. Congrats to all accepted and wishing the best of luck to all still waiting

Waitlisted LSA
4.25 gpa, 32 act, 8 APs
MANY extracurriculars, many awards and good essays

going to the Barnard College of Columbia University instead

Sorry, yoopOfM but I’m going to say what everyone must be thinking. I find it hard to believe that you were accepted to Ross with a 28 ACT, unless there’s going to be a new building with your last name on it.
