@sushiritto What you say makes total sense, but it also assumes that kids are committing to a school as they receive acceptances, prior to May 1. For housing preferences, I can see that it happens, sometimes. Or like myself, I accepted an offer at another school in order to get housing even though I will most likely not go there. I’m sure they have all kinds of models in terms of yields, including one that assumes a portion of acceptances aren’t true acceptances either. I just still wonder how much they gain by waiting. They don’t want to accept more than they can handle for sure, but I would think that would be an argument for holding out a percentage of decisions to the end, or increasing the number on the wait list. As of May 2, they should have a pretty good idea. We may never know, maybe it’s good Date Line episode.
Are there typically more decisions released during the 3/1 wave versus the 3/29 wave? I read someone’s post that said 3/1 should be all acceptances, but I wondered the difference in size.
Once thing we do know for sure is if people are waiting for something they really want, they will fill over 80 pages with posts. Good luck everyone. I hope we’re double the number of pages on Friday because there has been a big wave!
@letsgoblue1234 I can only offer you what is typical, but patterns aren’t always followed. Sometimes curveballs are thrown. Having said that, the 3/1 wave could/should be all acceptances, at least what’s posted here on CC. The next wave, which may be on or around 3/29, should/could have acceptances, but also waitlisted and rejected applicants.
But you have to remember, everyone here on CC, students (and parents) skew very high in terms of stats, when compared to the general population of students.
Wait now I’m turned around…
I figured 03/01 would just be a catch up clear the tables ( smaller ) Wave for the final run into 03/29-04/01 finish ( larger ) Wave. With a set of outliers through mid April including the waitlist.
So I’m guessing in the past you have found the 03/01 Wave to be the larger of the two?
how many hours (or days) before people get accepted does their decisions tab disappear? anyone know?
I counted roughly 44 acceptances here for the 2/1/19 release. I think the assumed 3/1 release here on CC will be similar based upon prior years +/- 10. But the amount of any release will be subject to what the UMich algorithm spits out based on the December EA and the 2/1 RD releases.
The possible 3/29 release may be 2x the size of either of the prior RD releases, because typically that RD release should have waitlisted and rejected applicants included.
It’s entirely possible that this assumed Friday 3/1 release could consist of waitlisted and/or rejected applicants, because it’s possible students and parents just haven’t posted waitlists and rejections for this 2nd RD release in the past. But that would be strange since they have posted waitlists and rejections for the later 3/29-4/1 release.
Of course, this is all my speculation. I hope it helps.
Check for those disappearing decision tabs the next couple of days. While it’s not 100% foolproof, when reports of those disappearances begin, then as the expression goes, “we have ham and eggs.”
@plue11 Both actually, from just hours to days to over a week before a release. In fact, I saw here at least one example in the past, where the tab had disappeared a month prior, if you can believe it. I don’t know if it’s true or not, but it was posted.
I do want to ask that students and parents post as much info as they feel comfortable with posting, since it’ll help future applicants, like my DC21.
@plue11 My decision tab disappeared at 7 pm the evening before the 2/2 decisions were released at midnight
Aye. Just got into McGill for Mechanical Engineering, but I’ll probably go to Michigan if I get the nod cause 'merica! (also, Quebec is too cold lol). Anyway, wish everyone waiting good luck! God knows the best. Let’s go blue!
so have decisions started coming out??
wait haha my bad i read something wrong
Why can’t I login into the portal now? It says temporarily unavailable. Anyone like that?
Server maintenance might’ve been going on when you logged in. The portal is working now
@Zeylanite
Pretty sure Wolverine Access goes down for routine maintenance from like 2am to 6am every day.
Wait if my decision tab is still there… Do I still have a chance?
Hoping for the best!
If you haven’t received a rejection, then you still have a chance.
Not everyone who will receive a decision in the next wave will have their decision tab disappear. However, there’s a correlation with those whose decision tabs disappear and an acceptance.
On the flip side, that doesn’t mean if the tab disappears that you’re guaranteed an acceptance. The admissions process isn’t like buying a kitchen appliance. :))
@sushiritto has anyone received a rejection??!!! Lol
has anyone’s decision tab disappeared yet
@plue11 Nope, D’s decision tab is still there.
