Son was deferred OOS to LSA and still didn’t get any decision.
1600 SAT, GPA 4/4.83, great ECs and recs, multiple state-level STEM awards, not a legacy but born in Ann Arbor and has strong family connection to UMich.
It does sound to me like they’re waiting for him to receive a bunch of acceptances to Ivies and withdraw his application. Not a problem since he’s probably not going to UMich anyway but nothing is set in stone yet. Still feels kind of weird.
Forgot to mention: OOS LSA, Biochem major
im sad
A girl from my school was admitted to CoE, I applied LSA and am still waiting for decision. How will this effect my chances? Would it help if she were to withdraw? She told me this is not her first choice by any means and may.
@excalibur123. She has no affect on your potential acceptance.
Does anyone know if more decisions will be released today?
The yield protect feature was likely in play through mostly the ED and partially EA rounds of acceptances at other schools for the most part. I believe that has come to a close for the most part. The “ED” students going to the Ivy’s and other such ED-1 and ED-2 rounds across all colleges should have allready decidedly pulled their applications by now to schools such as U of M.
Granted as the EA and Outlier RD acceptances and enrollment decisions are made across colleges some applicants will get pulled here and there but Im guessing it’s all offsetting at this point.
I’m guessing now it’s a Holistic process void of “yield protect” ( ED phase ) and still a pile of similarly deserving applicants. Odds are there will be any number of very qualified candidates who won’t get an acceptance. With xx,xxx applicants it’s impossible to include everyone.
I believe they are going over the “next set” of applicants and narrowing things down into the RD announcement at months end. Refining things as they go.
@dogbone7 I honestly highly doubt it. It seems that they have already released decisions for the March 1 round. We will have to wait until March 29/ April 16. Sadly, the majority of these decisions seems to be rejections/ waitlists as the other two rounds were acceptances. You never know though. I’m very sad today as it seems that I have not received admission to umich Ann Arbor, a top choice of mine. This isn’t confirmed, but I believe this is the case at this point. Oh well. I’m going to another great school so I guess it’s fine. Maybe grad school?
Decision tab still there = still deferred. Honestly, I probably will not be checking the portal again anytime soon, since at this point I’m not going to get in with my stats. I wish everyone on this thread the best whether they got in or still have not heard back. Go Blue! :)))
Just got accepted around 11am est to CoE after getting deffered early action.
1540 SAT 34 ACT
3.8 unweighted 4.5 weighted
Pretty good extracurriculars
^^^Again, as seen above, there should be some decisions that are released over the next couple of days in this wave. Decisions are released over hours and at least a couple days. And the VAST majority of decisions in this wave were acceptances. I didn’t see any waitlists and only 2 or 3 rejections.
If you’ve received no decision yet, then I’m reminded of an old movie line from Dumb and Dumber, where Jim Carrey’s character Lloyd says (in response to a girl telling him there’s a one-in-a-million chance of a romantic relationship):
To add to the mysteries, my child’s deferral letter in the portal changed sometime this week. It used to have certain language about family ties to the university but that has been replaced with a similar letter without “family ties” language. Tab still there. Meanwhile, her best friend, also deferred, hasn’t had a decision tab in portal for weeks.
First post, sorry I have been lurking for months
Deferred Early Action
Accepted LSA around 11 PM CST(hoping for Ross but probs not w/ my stats lol)
In-State (from the Upper Peninsula and they love taking Yoopers)
28 ACT 3.9 unweighted GPA
Good Essays
Good Rec’s and decent EC’s
Congrats to all accepted! And good luck to all those still waiting!
so…no chance of today then?
@Claven01 did you check prior to 11am today? Just wondering if it was there last night like the others or it fact changed mid day?
rumors its gonna come at 5pm EST today?
Ross will definitely release decisions today at 5:00 PM EST. We’ll see about the other schools.
It’ll be frightening to be OOS LSA and wait till 4/1 and know vast majority are rejections
I’m not quite sure when exactly my portal updated but when I checked my portal today I got in! I’m OOS and applied to the School of Nursing. Last night when I checked my view decision tap (I was deferred originally) was gone. I assumed that was indication I would receive a decision although I was expecting waitlist or rejection! Super happy rn and am definitely attending Michigan was my top choice
so are there anymore decisions going to come out today or not?
