University of Michigan Class of 2028 Official RD Thread

Our school had 14 accepted (11 attended) in 2022 and one accepted (did not attend) in 2023. We were all baffled!

Honestly, I am also. I know they track student performances to see about taking others later on but that is a stark difference.

Does anyone have any scoop on KINES? I see SMTD has started releasing decisions. Wondering if we can expect KINES soon…

Couple of years ago, for my son… it was rolling a certain day of the week for 2-3 weeks.

I assume the Ross date of March 15 is for those already accepted from EA into Michigan right? Because if we were postponed, we are not hearing about Michigan until RD comes out and then we would hear from Ross in April. Is that correct?

We are waiting for School of Kinesiology as well, daughter was postponed early action. They have zoom information sessions you can sign-up for on their website. Looks like the next session is March 13.

Thanks. May try to jump on that zoom. My daughter and wife attended the in person orientation a couple months ago. Came away incredibly impressed. We were postponed as well. Good luck!

Thank you, good luck to your daughter!

D24 got accepted to UMich SMTD today happily

I got in last year (in state) and was deferred and waitlisted. deferred people definitely have a chance! don’t give up hope, and show demonstrated interest!!! (like visiting once again, emailing a letter of continued interest, etc) because when I did that when I was waitlisted, I was admitted a week or two later. I’m not sure if it was always planned that way, but it seems to be connected!

but don’t like harass them either. Maybe submit the LOCI form they have on the portal and do this a couple of months later. I’m not sure, there’s no perfect formula, but definitely communicate that you are a guaranteed admission because they don’t want to admit people who are planning for different schools, or using umich as a safety.

I have a general question. Do siblings of admitted students have a better chance of getting in? Asking for my younger brother. We’re both first-gen, so neither of our parents attended, for reference.

This year they specifically instructed deferred/postponed students not to submit any documentation of continued interest OTHER than the form LOCI they provided. And, they set a deadline for submitting it as well.

How does that correlate to the general admission date, don’t you first need to get into Umich? so who hears back March 15th if decisions are not out until the end of the month?

today? and what is D24 that I see everywhere? excuse my ignorance.

D stands for Daughter, S stands for Son, 24 is the graduation year. Sometime people use DD and DS (Dear Daughter, Dear Son).

Yes - well now two days ago

I saw someone use C24 the other day… any idea what the C stands for? Oh wait…it must be ā€œchildā€ and they didn’t want to identify a gender.

So not sure what your asking or if you know what your asking for :joy::thinking:… It does get confusing.

So, there are several schools within Michigan that have like rolling dates like STMD, as an example. Then you have Ross coming out February, March and April. Those students already were accepted EA and now their applications were sent over to Ross for review. Someone posted their kid just got in. Maybe Michigan is doing some rolling admission, trickling. That has been done in the past. Remember, what happens on here is just a microcosm of the real world. I would expect March 29,Friday will be a very active day. But… Your kids should be looking at other schools and getting excited to be there. May 1st is the deadline and it comes up faster than the then expected. If this doesn’t work out have a plan for the next school up. Been there, done that. It’s much better and easier if there is a plan in play.
