The thread 2025 Waitlists- expect movement (read why) and list them here has confirmed that Michigan went to its WL last week. Is that timing different than in years past?
I still question it but in yearâs past really only during the pandemic yearâs I remember. But they used to do a dribble rolling acceptance also. After May 1st they will definitely have a better idea of what they need to do.
The confirmed Michigan WL was for women and gender studies, so it was for a niche major, which might have dictated the early movement.
I donât think so. I would look at it as an LSA admit, as Michigan doesnât admit by major within LSA.
Ah okay. The person reporting on the waitlist thread specified women and gender studies, which I think of as a small cohort and a niche major, rather than economics or another more common major at LSA.
I get it, but that admit can easily end up declaring a different LSA major when that time comes in late soph year.
With that saidâŚwe donât know if that student and their interest in that particular major did perhaps play a role in their acceptance (even if the student isnât admitted to nor bound to the WGS major.) Totally possible! The mysterious ways of waitlist management and selectionâŚ
I just wanted to buttress this point a bit more.
A Michigan student doesnât officially declare a major until their 2nd semester of sophomore year.
Some good blogs out there as you all make your decisions.
Just wondering if anyone here knows how in person orientation works. Do you get
to pick a date or is it assigned. My son is having surgery and will be out of commission from July on
You can select in-person orientation during move-in week.
Best of luck to your son and his swift recovery!
You pick and the dates go quickly. Maybe ask admissions when registration opens. With that said, given your situation hopefully theyâll accommodate dates that work around the surgery and recovery time. Good luck with it!
Registration has opened - we registered last week for the virtual session as well as the in-person orientation. Since we are coming from OOS and attended campus day earlier this month, we opted for the in-person orientation during move-in week.
Thank you!! I was able to access all of that info on the website earlier but I couldnât tell from the wording if the one day in-person orientation was the same as that offered during move in week. If thatâs the case we will definitely opt for that as we are not close by and it would be too inconvenient to fly out for one day.
We did it during move-in week and it was fine.
Hello everyone,
My son is currently leaning toward attending the Kelley School of Business because of the substanital cost difference between the two schools. However, he has applied to several external scholarships (some up to $10,000). These scholarship decisions will not be released until the end of May-early June. If he gets any of these scholarships, he would most likely attend Ross. If not, he would pick Kellley. Is it possible to submit an enrollment deposit at both and make a final decision when all scholarship decisions have been made? This will ensure our family can make a well-informed financial decision.
NO.
All students who applied to college using the Common App signed an Affirmation Statement: âI affirm that I will send an enrollment deposit (or equivalent) to only one institution; sending multiple deposits (or equivalent) may result in the withdrawal of my admission offers from all institutions.â
Hereâs the answer I gave you on the IU thread:
How does one learn if their dual enrollment credits are going to be given credit at U-M? TIA!
